I took my first section today, REG, and am completely baffled with no real sense of how I did. I finished all the multiple choice questions in under an hour and spent another 45 minutes or so on the simulations. The first testlet seemed super easy, the second had a few curve balls thrown in, and the last one had some interesting questions and a few with a little more involved calculations. A couple of the SIMS I was lost on, but looked up some stuff in the authoritative literature and think I at least made a decent effort at them.

I’ve read about people running out of time on REG and not having time to finish SIMS, so is it normal to have so much time left over? I guess I feel like things maybe went okay, or I completely got my butt handed to me; I’ve no real sense of which. I think I had expectations that the MCQ’s would be super hard with lots of red herring info and multi-step calculations required, but except for a very few questions, that wasn’t the case.

I took the Regulation exam Thursday the 5th and I just had 10 minutes to spare. For the simulation portion I had an hour and 20 minutes left and only used an hour and 10 minutes of it. I had some curve ball questions too. I don't remember ever seeing information on them during study or they could have been a “blip” somewhere in the Becker textbook (probably ancillary) that just did not stick.

Everyone is different. You might be a better test taker than the rest of us.

I took REG on Tuesday the 3rd, and although I finished with only about 15 minutes left I felt that I had a similar experience. I had a requirement that I spend 1.5 hrs on the MCQ's even if I thought I knew the answer right off the bat, because some of the questions have a couple answers that could be right and they want the best answer. I also made myself read each question twice that way I would not miss the questions that would contain the words “not” and “except for” that I would usually miss.

I feel the same way about it, I either did really well or did really bad.
