    Hey guys, I’m going to do a mock exam tomorrow for REG need some tips for time strategies (how many minutes per testlet/question). There are 38 multiple choice questions in each MC testlet right?

    Yes 38 MCQs per testlet. My strategy for exam day is to be finished with the MCQ's at around 2:45. So roughly 1 minute per MCQ. I finished FAR and AUD MCQ's faster than that but REG is super detailed and going any faster could be costly.

    I think most people should be fine with 2 hours for sims. I had a goal to give myself 2:30 for sims but the MCQ's I got were definitely more difficult than I expected so I actually only had 1:45 for sims. I had to rush through the last testlet and I know I made a couple mistakes, particularly on the last sim, but overall felt like I had enough time. 1:45 was pushing it though, and an extra hour would have been very helpful. One tip for REG that helped me was using the AL to verify/find answers so if you can give yourself more time on sims you'll have more time to double check using the AL.

    also…do you actually take the 15 min break when taking the exam? How did it go? I'm afraid that everyone else will take the break at the same time and I'll be stressed out getting in line to sign in/sign out…etc.

    @Msim
    Most prometric centers have more than just CPA candidates. In fact I've only been taking the same exam as someone else once, so that shouldn't be an issue.

    @MSim the 15 minute break is a really nice breather although I have only utilized it twice out of the five exams I have taken. Some people are fast test takers and get on a roll so I get where a break might mess with your rhythm. I think it's up to you

    I took reg today and would definitely recommend leaving at least 2:30 for sims. I took audit back in Q1 and my strategy was just to leave 2 hours for sims and that seemed to work at fine for audit. Felt like every one of my sims were document review sims and had to flip through multiple documents. Questions were not that difficult but I found myself rushing a bit towards the end due to them being so time consuming.
