Time Allocation for REG

I am trying to figure out the best way to allocate my time for REG. I was thinking 1.75 – 2 hours max for MCQ and 2 hours for SIMs. Is this a good goal to shoot for?

    FAR: 74 1/15/16, 72 7/2/16 -_-
    BEC: TBD
    REG: TBD
    AUD: TBD

I used Roger's suggestions for the exams I've taken, and I thought they were right on. For the REG exam I took most recently (after the exam changes took effect) his recommendation was for the exam clock to look like this:

    4:00
    3:12
    2:24
    1:54
    0:57

I followed that almost exactly and thought it was basically the right amount of time for me! I could have used a little more time on the SIMS, but I don't think I could have gone much faster through the MCQs than I did and still feel good about them.

    Good luck!

That sounds like a reasonable time frame to shoot for. I am just afraid of having to rush through the MCQ and making some stupid mistakes because i am in a hurry. I hate feeling rushed during an exam.

I 100% agree! I felt more rushed this time through REG than either of the times I took it before the exam changed. I don't like that the SIMS are broken into different testlets now. What if I get a really easy SIM in the first SIM testlet and take my time, and then get blind sided by difficult SIMS in the last testlet? I think it makes it more difficult to use your time wisely. However, while I could have used more time for the SIMS, I definitely had enough time to think and input logical answers. Just could have used more time to double check them. Who knows, we will find out in August!

It is definitely more difficult in that sense. We can't properly allocate our time on SIMs because we don't know if we have harder or easier ones coming. We also can't go back and check over all of ours SIMs at the end. Just the last testlet.

I took REG towards the end of May…based my time allocation off of the Roger timing mapping…though I gave myself the “1.25” minute per mcq sort of total for each set of mcqs…Okay, I had double time accommodations, so double that, (trust me, not as glamorous as it sounds when you're spending almost 10 hours at prometric, when factoring in a 1 hour lunch break accommodation)…and I still had trouble with the TBS's and time allocation since I had to submit with low confidence to keep moving…honestly being unable to look at all of the tbs's at once is also troubling when it comes to longer or shorter ones…can't really say much else honestly. Good luck.
