Hello guys, my name is Kobe

I believe some of you already who i am, (the worst fortune victim who scored 74 on his last section)

I have done everything I could to study, three months, but seems like Sims in REG are my biggest obstacle that prevent me from passing

I wonder if anyone please tell me which review course, software helped you passed REG section

I used BECKER and wiley test bank and they are great for MCQs

Please share your exp, I will greatly appreciated!

    Thanks a million

I've heard of people buying sims from cpareviewforfree.com. Have you tried creating your own sims? Maybe the process of creating them will help learn them better.

It hurt me when I saw your 74. Ouch. I feel for ya.

In passing REG its essential to use the research tool. I used it with 3 of the Sims when I took Reg. Practicing different sims doesn't help much in my opinion.

Hey kobe, sorry to hear bout the 74. To be honest, I used the becker self study also and found success using it. This may sound redundant but I wouldn't say it's practicing the sims as much as understanding the material.

For each of my tests I would try to understand the material enough so that I could reason my way through the SIMS/WC. I understand everyone works differently, but what worked for me was going through those lectures again and trying to cram that into a 2 or 3 day window a couple days before the test. The material starts to make alot more sense when you can understand it again in a short period of time instead of trying to remember something from 2 months ago. I'd go through the final reviews and SIM answers so I could see how they'd ask certain types of questions.

Sounds simple but its what worked for me. If beckers not working for you as far as understanding the material, I would definitely recommend ninja audio. Helps hearing the material in a different way so ultimately I think you'd have a broader understanding of the topics. Hope this helps, good luck!

    BEC - 80 (5/25/12)
    REG - 82 (8/9/12)

    DONE!! 🙂

@kobe, you are not alone with these sims. I scored a 70 on reg and a friend of mine scored a 66. We are actually going to have a meeting of the minds to try to figure out how to study these sims. I purchased the sim pack from cpa review for free. it is 9.99 and has 10 sections with 3 sims and 1 research question each. I also am using wiley test bank and have wiley book and am planning on working my way through every one of the sims until i understand the theory behind them. If you want to chat some more about this email me at bnrhilton at yahoo.com

Get very comfortable with navigating the IRC. If you are able to look up that one rule and apply it in a SIM it could be what gets you the passing score. I firmly believe that is what happened to me. I would have had to guess on much of my SIMS if I did not look things up.

Ditto on using the literature. Its a life saver. I used it for every single simulation. I didn't practice any of the sims in wiley (ran out of time) so I can't say if thats helpful or not.

As Kobe said, if you have an exam with all calculations it is pretty much impossible to use the research function. I have had it both ways for reg and was only able to use the literature for help on one exam. I have always used it before though

Most of my REG simulations involved calculations as well. The IRC helped me when I couldn't remember if the rules for a particular calculation went one way or the other. I am sorry can't think of how to explain more clearly without making an exam disclosure. Being familiar with the structure of the IRC will help you find what you need faster. I personally don't have much luck with key words. I do much better using the topic tree and folders.

    For SIMS:

-Practive every single SIM in your review course until you have them memorized

-Get the SIMS from CPAReviewForFree and do the same thing

-Leave at least 90 minutes for the SIMS

-Use the AL to check the details. I only had one with the drop-down thing, but had no clue and that's when the AL saved my ass..
