In the next couple of days I will start to restudy for REG. A little background, Ive taken REG twice, scoring a 59, and 60. I’m using Becker, I sat for the live classes when I was still living in NYC. I don’t think I got a lot out of the lectures honestly. I was working 60 hours a week, then would sit through an 8 hour live lecture Saturday mornings. Yuck. This time around I think I’ll rewatch the lecture and take intense notes, plus purchase Wiley MCQs. On here Ive read a lot to NOT rewatch lectures, but something has got to be wrong if I only went up one point! Any suggestions?? Yeager cram or anything like that? I’m studying full time and take this August 22. Any advice is appreciated!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

A cram will not help you if you are scoring in the 60s. Something need to be change and I suggest you study it like you never take the exam before. Watch all the videos and take ALOT of notes because you will not going to watch it again. Read or better yet WRITE out your notes and Jeff's notes if you purchase it. Start with all the Yaeger recommended MCQs in the Wiley book and then go through all the MCQ in the Wiley test bank dvd MULTIPLE TIME. After all of this, look over your notes again and do more MCQ in your weak areas. GL

I really think you need to totally change the way you have approached the material in the past…usually, doing more of the same will yield more of the same results. Maybe Becker is not a good fit for you (make sure you have 2011 materials and the course updates from the Becker website) and you may need to switch to a new course as you have indicated you are considering. Did you get a score report that indicated which areas you were weaker in?

I wish you the best of luck!

    BEC: 79 - April 2011
    FAR: 78 - May 2011
    AUD: 81 - May 2012
    REG: 79 - October 2012
    Ethics: Passed - March 2013
    I am finally DONE!

Thanks for responding guys. I moved back with my mother to study full time. The second time around for REG I studied a month straight 5 hours a day. I have to be completely focusing my energy wrong. She's the one who suggested new materials “how are you scoring that low when you study allllll thhe time” thanks ma.

    My score report

    Ethics weaker

    Business law strong

    Fed tax process comparable

    Tax on property weaker

    Tax on individuals weaker

    Tax on entities comparable

    MC weaker

    SIMs weaker

Total opposite of how I felt, I thought I did well on the sims!

Ethics and Individual taxation are two areas that you should really focus on because they are easier and shorter than other topic. GL
