I thought I would create this new topic for those that are taking REG in the October/November testing window. I am taking this test on October 19. Anybody have any experience with this section?

It sounds like your study habits are great, I'm sure you'll do great!

I think BEC was the one I passed the final exams on too, so that makes sense. I know a few people that hit 74's on BEC the first time through and knocked it out with no problem the second time. I don't know anybody that passed by a wide margin.

I thought the flashcards were great too, I have to see things a million times to get them to stick so those worked great!

Did you go back through the HW questions multiple times? I think I did them all like 3 times, but I had to mix them up or i just memorized the answers.

lol thats what everyone tells me, but I studied this hard for BEC and stilla 74. But, I know thats just my problem with second guessing.

But yeah, I have really put 100% into studying for these exams. For BEC it was like some of the questions were more detailed than I remember the review materials being, so thats what I am most stressed about now. But, I realize theres nothing to do about that except just keep studying the materials available.

I do the MCQs at the end of the chapter, then I try and wait at least a week before I re-do them so I don't memorize them. I've probably done all the chapters at least twice right now. But right now, I am focusing on R1-R4.. finishing up all my notes (it helps to much, because I'm re-reading the chapters and typing it up at the same time). Tomorrow I am going to re-do all of the MCQs for R1-R4, and the simulations. By saturday I want to have reviewed & finished all of R5-R7 MCQs & simulations. So, that will be a third or fourth time for all of them at that point. Then, sunday is my final exams day, and from then on I will definitely know my strong/weak areas & I will be focusing on weak areas, and reviewing my strong areas so they don't become weak haha!

btw, sorry all my answers are so long. I tend to ramble on an on!

& that makes me happy to know your friends did well when they re-took it! I can't wait to re-take it.. prob in jan/feb after this one & audit

Sounds like a pretty good plan to me!

I had to make sure I went back through everything as much as possible, I probably read through every chapter at least 5 times. Sometimes just skimming a few before I went to bed.

Do you second guess problems on the actualy exam? If I go back to questions I almost always change to a wrong answer. I had to make a rule for myself for the exam if I have a questions I don't know and want to go back and look at it, then I'll flag it, if I do the problem and select an answer, I don't go back to it.

With BEC it seems to usually be B3 & B5 that are the most highly tested, but don't let the IT stuff get away either, a lot of people stumble on it!

Yes, that was my problem! I second guess myself easily, and convince myself of wrong answers. Not so much with calculations, but when its all theoretical stuff thats when I question my answers. So for the tax section I am not too worried because even though there are a lot of text-type questions, I do actually know a lot about it. But its law that scares me.. two answers are always so close! But, I am working on that very hard! In my first round of MCQs (law sections) I was getting in the 60s (about 7 or 8 wrong out of about 25 each section), and it would have been at least in the 80s if I went with my first choice.

I like your rule for the exams.. I am definitely going to try that. That takes a lot of bravery!

actually, I did better than average for B2, B3, B4, and one point below average on B5. It was business structure that brought me down.. way down. & for some reason, my first testlet seemed soo much harder than the other two which is weird because they say for BEC they are all supposed to be the same difficulty level.

Ya it can be a bit nerve racking going back and not looking closely at them but 1. it saves time and 2. I had the same problem all the way through school so I got used to not double checking the ones I completed the first time through.

My boyfriend feels the exact same about REG! He just missed with a 74 and based on his score report he was scoring high 80's in all the tax stuff and low in the law. I find the law to be pretty second nature, and my Masters degree is in Audit and Controls, so I was more stressed out about the tax portion. I haven't recieved my score report yet, but it will be interesting to see where my high points were.

You are definitely right about that!

Ahh! I feel like those will be my results as well haha! But, I'm just trying to organize it in my mind so that I can learn it easier, or at least memorize it. R7 seems easy enough to keep straight, R5 is the one that seems tough for me. Its simple, but theres just so much to it. R6 is kind of so-so for me.. but I have a good feeling about this exam 🙂

Thats weird you haven't gotten your report yet, I got mine about a week after it was online. Did you at least get your score?

Oh ya, I got my score just fine. It takes a while after we get our advisory scores for the reports to come up. I personally blame any delays on CA's faulty budget! 🙂

The law isn't that bad, I think you just have to take what they give you, not make it too complicated. My boyfriend wants to understand every topic in depth, I say take what they give you and spit back up on the exam haha

I wish I was in CA! Its like 40 degrees in Boston.. this is about the time of year when I tell everyone I'm moving to California in the next 3 years! Haha and I'm always so serious too, until it becomes summer.. then I think I can handle the cold.

Anyways, I think I'm the same way as your boyfriend haha. Yeah, that makes sense. Theres so much to it, and seems like theres so much to know but whats in the material is what we need to know for the scope of the exam.

haha ya I think it would be nice to know the topics more, but reality is thats just overcomplicating a very complicated exam! haha. I just tried to get out of my review exactly what they gave me and spit it back out.

haha well….CA can be nice, I grew up in the Bay are and just recently moved back to CA. It's currently 65 degrees and has been raining for two days, so not always glamorous haha

Ooh it can get cold up there I hear! But my uncle used to live in that area, and he just loved it there. During the winters here, I say I am not living anywhere above LA, but no further than San Diego. Lol, I doubt that'll happen but its fun to think about 🙂

Well I just realized I've spent more time on here today than I've spent working at work, and its 3:00 haha! I think I'm gonna try and stay off of here until after my exam, so I stop reading about people's simulation horror stories! Thanks for all of the great advice!!

Has anyone recently taken regulation while using becker. I am looking for some advice before I begin chapters 3 and 4. I didn't have much entity taxation in college and was wondering if you have any tips. I understand chapters 1 and 2 just fine. Thanks for any help.
