I thought I would create this new topic for those that are taking REG in the October/November testing window. I am taking this test on October 19. Anybody have any experience with this section?

Thanks for the advice MA CPA WANNABE! I passed audit, took BEC twice and got a 72% both times so I am so depressed about that. Taking REGS on the 27-Nov-09 and BEC on the 30-Nov-09. To make things worse…AUD expires in February. This feels like a never ending journey.

Thanks Stacy and MA CPA WANNABE –

I just took the first REG practice test and failed miserably. I am hoping a good piece of it is that I am tired, but I was in the 40's. 🙁 We'll see how I do tomorrow.

I schedule my exams for Mondays, and take the Friday before off. So, I have three days to where I can concentrate on sleeping, studying, and not worrying about what's going on at the office.

I am thinking that I want to schedule AUD for Mid-Jan, and then BEC for the end of Feb.

Thanks Atrus! You probably are burnt out and that is why you got in the 40s. Don't worry about it. First thing in the morning take a practice exam when you are alert…I am sure that you will do much better.

Here is wishing us and everyone on this forum who has taken the exam or will take it this testing window scores above 75! Me personally, I will be extremly satisfied at 75 (lol).

Everyone good luck with REG! I started today to review REG for November 29. I took the exam this past summer and failed with a 74, I have good notes and hope to be ready in a couple of weeks. My advice for REG, is to move very fast during the MCQs. If you don't know how to solve the problem within 40 seconds after reading it, guess B and move-on. You are going to need the time for the SIMs. I did great on the MCQs, but didn't have enough time for the SIMs.

Stacy, I passed BEC by studying IT and Business Structure 200% more than the rest of the materials. I felt during my exam that I got every IT, Business Structure and Economics MCQ correct. For the rest of BEC I just memorized every formula by writing them down 5 times…and knowing the general theory through-out the material…..

    Good luck..

BEC 77, REG 74, AUD 70, FAR took exam on November 13, ouch! probably failed with 50-60?

    Stacy –

I was REALLY happy to have the 75 on FAR, but I was still a little disappointed that I didn't do better. A co-worker made me feel better.

He told me that I maximized my efficiency – I studied just enough to pass, and any more studying wouldn't have yielded a better end result. He's right – whether a 75 or a 95, we all get the same end result!

So, I am hoping, wishing, and praying for that 75 on REG.

Thanks for the advice Tampa Accountant. For REGS I feel like I just re-write everything in the book so I have 3 notebooks of information for that subject! Anyway, I will make sure that I cram 5 days after REGS to make sure I have BEC down pact! I I plan to review those notes but I will definitely re-read the IT and Financial Management section.

    Atrus,

A year from now….no one is going to ask you “what did you get on your CPA exam?” There only concern is if you passed or not! Don't try to down play your amazing achievement just because your main focus is on a number! Instead, you should look at the bigger picture and realize that you are one step closer to being a CPA!!!!!!!!!

Question for anyone who has taken REG during the current window – what tax rates are being tested? Did you see questions with 2009 rates or 2008 rates?

    Thanks!

The tax rates, deductions, exemptions ect. I encountered were for 2008.

No tips, but I am in the same boat. It all just seems like so much! Hopefully AUD and BEC will be easier for me than this nonsense! 😉

Taking REG on the 23rd, and I can't decide if I should check my FAR score, whenever it comes out, or wait until after I sit for REG. If I get a passing score on FAR, that would be a nice boost, but on the other hand….

Also, has anyone ever taken REG without reviewing any sims, because that is my plan. I just want to hear if that is really stupid, or justified because of how hard the sims are to study for. Please no replies of, “You just need to know everything,” I get it, it is a hard exam.

Do you think the handouts and MCQ using Yaegear are better than Wiley & Gleim?

Aloe – I think you are justified in not going over the sims!! The Sims they give you on the exam are not going to be the same as the sims you practice, so I wouldn't bother. The only benefit you would get out of doing the sims is that it helps ensure that you understand topics you already went over in the multiple choice!

AUD – sat on 10/14…waiting on score!!

    REG – 11/30

    BEC – late 1/2010

    FARE – after tax season!

    good luck everybody taking REG!

    AUD - 84; REG - 90; BEC - 79; FAR - 75; ALL DONE!!

D3Deuel – I think it is going to be 2008 tax rates. Those are the rates they use in my 2009 Becker study material. I don't think they will start using 2009 tax rates, etc. until 2010 exams.

    AUD - 84; REG - 90; BEC - 79; FAR - 75; ALL DONE!!
