I thought I would create this new topic for those that are taking REG in the October/November testing window. I am taking this test on October 19. Anybody have any experience with this section?

    glogo,

the way you're describing seems soooooo much like what i felt about the exam, except that i felt that the 3rd MC testlet was even tougher. I really wanna hear what Jeff says….

By the way,,i took the exam last Friday. passed all other sections so far.

    glogo –

The fact that your 2nd testlet was insane speaks well for the 1st testlet and keep in mind that the 2nd testet MCQs were worth more points because they were ratcheted up.

The third testlet going back down isn't something you should read into, really. Yeah, maybe you weren't on the “95” track, but instead have a nice “79” awaiting you.

I would be confident in your preparation and let's see what happens.

I just took this test again on Friday. It was a sprint to the finish line as I just came out of a really tough busy season and studying and working was not an option.

The first testlet was easy, second and third were harder, then the sims were even tricky for a tax person. It could be too that I was over-thinking my answers. It definately seemed harder than when I passed it the first time almost two years ago. I just pray that I passed and I will pass AUD in two and a half weeks. I want this two plus year journey to be over. I've given it my all and I'm just not the type that is great at exams. If I wasn't so good at my job I would have given up a long time ago…

    Jeff you give me hope!

Aloe – too much doom and gloom on here?

Being on the other side now – I try to inject as much positivity as possible…there IS light at the end of the tunnel.

    Glogo,

I just took REG on Tue and it seems that your exam experience was pretty much the same as mine. Simulations were hard, 1st test was easy, 2nd was hard, and 3rd wasn't as hard as 2nd. I did all the tabs in the simulations but were not sure if what I did was right. I just tried to not leave anything blank just in case I got credit for that.

    Jeff,

When you got your 92 on REG, how did you feel about the simulations? Were you confident that your answers were correct?

fefe – My sims were straight forward and nothing crazy. I felt pretty confident on them. On the other hand – when I passed FAR, I KNOW I bombed sims #2 and I still passed. Maybe I had done so well on the MCQs that I was able to escape with a passing score in spite of my 2nd sim…I really don't know.

Does anyone else really dis-like commercial paper and secured transactions as much as I do? How heavy is it tested?

yeah – I hated that stuff. Expect to get a few questions on them. At least know enough about them to give yourself a fighting chance on the exam.

    Jeff,

Would it be an ok plan to nail down the basics on topics you don't fully comprehend and try to avoid the real complex type of questions on that material? I understand the basics but when the fact patterns get complicated I tend to confuse myself. Also, I noticed on my previous exams, the fact patterns tend to be a little easier to follow. Do the review companies pick the more challenging questions on purpose? The questions on the exam seem a little easier to deal with than on the software. I'm not saying that the exam is easy but my first two exams were in the 80's and for the most part, the questions were not as difficult.

    To everyone:

Everyone who has taken the regulation exam has been baffled by the simulations. If you are comfortable with the material, why are they so difficult? Can anyone give me some advice within the guidelines of the website. Thanks.

CC – I found the calculations on the SIMS to be very challenging and the wording of the questions confusing. Basically causing me to second guess every one of my answers… don't expect any business law questions in the SIMs.

    glogo2384 – what do u think about Becker's SIM??

    Not much help??

For the m/c – having the basic concept of the topics would do..

I have some covered but not all..

Becker's SIMs are more so there to help you get a grip of the functionality and cover the basics of each topic. If you are comfortable with all of the material you should be able to give yourself a fighting chance on the SIMs, just don't count on Becker SIMs to do that, count on the MC and outlines…
