I thought I would create this new topic for those that are taking REG in the October/November testing window. I am taking this test on October 19. Anybody have any experience with this section?

Well, I haven't taken it yet.. my exam is on Friday. But I hear that the simulations this round have been really hard, and do not compare to Becker's. So, it seems like the best way to prepare for them is just to know as much of the material as possible.. and whatever forms you fill out.. if you haven't seen it before, just make sure and read the instructions and follow them 100%. All tax forms basically tell you what is supposed to be on each line, in theory they are supposed to make it as though anyone could prepare their own return… haha yeah right.

Thanks ktsullivan. Good luck with your test! I'll be taking it a week or so after you. Don't give up. It took me 3 times before I passed BEC, and as you can see, I barely passed. I figured, I'm 25, I'll take this whole darn test a million times if I have to, until I pass… If, I'm 40 when I do, then I'm 40.

    ? AUD - 87 (8/12/09)

    ? FAR - 75 (2/11/11)

I ordered Yaeger cram today since i have only have a few weeks more before the exam.

Is that enough time to cover what Becker did not?

I only used Becker and I passed reg on the first try. I just did the plan and worked the homework and looked over the simulations. Simulations were comparable but as always you never know what you're going to get on sims so it's good to get the feeling of sims and know the topics that are covered by the sims but be ready for anything.

melnp – you should be in good shape…just knock out the cram in a week and work the MCQs that Yaeger assigns…you should be good to go. Once you get the cram – I would focus only on it and not the other materials…you don't have enough time to do both.

Thanks glogo! Good luck to you too! And I hope you don't have to do this for 15 more years haha, you only have 2 sections left, you'll be done soon!

Heya all, , I took Regulation on Jan/21/09 Between my law school breaks and scored a 68, did a lot worse than I expected on individividual taxation, I took FAr that Feb and passed it, took aud in August and passed it and I took Reg again today. The Mc's were mostly ok but the sims destroyed me completely. I don;t know i'f I'll be able to pass with such a poor performance on the sims.

I am taking REG 11/24 and have been using Becker to review. Unfortunately, in talking with some folks who have taken REG using Becker they have slammed it not only for the content, but the simulation preperation that Becker provides. Not many have seemed to pass with Becker from my limited contacts. I have found that I have mastered the homework questions, but do not feel good about the test AT ALL.

Does anyone have any suggestions to more homework/simulation problems at a reasonable cost? I just feel as if I need more practice then what Becker is providing. Please help. I really would like to pass this the first go round. Thanks

I would seriously consider the Yaeger REG cram to supplement. It's what I used to pass REG (actually, I used the HomeStudy).

Click the banner to get the discount…it helps with shipping costs at least.

I passed Reg with only Becker but have heard good things about what Jeff has spoke of.

Thanks for the input Jeff. However, I am what you would call cheap. I was hoping to pick up a problem book and/or software on Amazon or something for less than $50. Anyone have any thoughts?

The REG Cram is “cheaper” than another NTS and 2 months of wasted time 🙂

It's worth every penny if it solidifies your weak areas.

Does anyone have advice on where I should focus most of my time studying(for the tax areas) of the exam… Individuals vs. Corps vs. Partnerships/Estates?! I'm using Becker and having a hard time using my time efficiently because I feel like I need to know every last detail… Thanks in advance.

    ? REG - 77 (1/15/10
    ? BEC - 77 (1/6/09 - Expired) / 79 (11/18/10)
    ? FAR - 75 (2/11/11)

I would focus equal attention on the first 3…Gifts/Estates are important, but not as important as the other 3.
