Start doing a lot of multiple choice questions, google “2012 aicpa recently released regulation” for practice questions and sims. Then do the same search for 2011 and 2010 questions. Focus on weak areas but don't forget to skim over other stronger areas to keep them straight. You know how to research? Just search for the keywords in quotes. Try taking a PTO day or two. Might want to bring a sleeping bad to the library because its a weekend sleepover haha keep up the hard work, Starbucks has buy one get one free holiday drinks 2-5pm perfect timing for late night library session.

As far as studying goes — yes I agree with Da Bears. practice some research sims. I would also practice a few other sims (if your study material has them) just to get familiar.

On test day: the sims are the most difficult part because of the time limit. I don't want to make you nervous, but budget your time wisely. Don't necessarily rush thru MCQs, but if you don't know an answer, flag it and move on, then come back to it. You want to make sure you have left yourself enough time for the sims at the end. When you get to them, look at every one of them before answering any so you know how to budget your time. Work the ones you are comfortable/confident with first. Then go back to the ones you are less sure about. If you get a research question,,, good luck. just don't spend too much time on it when you need the time for more complicated sims with calculations. Also read all the info they give you carefully. There will be information thrown in to confuse you that isn't included in your calculations (like word problems in junior high math class). Try to remember what is absolutely necessary information and check your math!

Even tho I am focusing here on the sims–you will have the base knowledge you need for the sims from doing tons of practice MCQs. Just practice enough sims (or look at the various formats of possible questions) to get familiar with what to expect.

    Good luck!

Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses … I knew that I was worried more about the MCQ than the sims. In my opinion, if you study your arse off on the MCQ, you'd probably know as much as you needed to in order to complete the sims. Same information, just a different way of presenting it.

I honestly did not practice one REG sim the entire time I studied. When I got to that portion of the exam, I was only befuddled by one of the sims, which seemed on another planet. The other 4 were pretty straight forward and info I knew from just “studying the material”.

i will have my REG exam in a week. i am just planning to review all my notes, work on MCQ i got incorrectly before and work on all SIMs i got wrong before. Also, i will review again 2012 AICPA released questions, ( 2011 one i saw most questions in Becker, so i guess i already worked on those). If i still have time left, i will just re-read Becker book and focus on the core concepts and memorizing. I guess that is it.

good luck to you, lisa712 and all of us!
