Hi Eveyone,

I’m currently studying for REG, I have exactly 3 weeks left before taking the CPA exam. I want some tips/suggestions on how to study for Business Law, I believe its 20% of the exam. My study plan is to re-read my notes on it, just work on the Multiple choices/simulations once, and keep re-reading my notes until exam date. Beckers CPA review has 3 separate lectures on business law. Does it sound like I’m understimating business law? I just want to go back and review the other material like Individual taxes/ C-corps/ Partnerships (I feel I should be focusing more on these topics since its over 60% of the exam).

I would appreciate any tips/suggestions/opinions. Thanks- Maria.

It took me 2 tries to pass Reg. I was scoring high 80-low 90 on practice tests on Becker when I failed the first time with a 66. I was like “what should I study?” I ended up spending some time reworking all the simulations more than doing more MCQ. i only studied about 2 weeks before the retake. I got a 77 on the retake.

If the business law section is what you are weakest in now, spend some time concentrating on the concepts. I thought the concepts were more heavily tested than the math on REG. IIRC, the Becker materials spend a lot of time on Commercial Paper and the SEC laws like Reg 504, 505, 506. That was definitely tested, but I don't remember the amount of material on my 2 tests being comparable to the amount of study material in Becker.

What I'm trying to say is I thought Becker focused on Topic A the most and the test did have Topic A on it, but not nearly as much as I thought it would based on my study material.

bottom line, you do have to have a firm grasp of ALL of it. ugh. like as a CPA we wouldn't look something up if we were unsure.

Thanks for replying. I'm scoring in the 80s on the progress tests but I still feel I need to review the first 4 lectures of Beckers (Individual tax/C-corp/S corp/partnership) I'm trying to figure out how to study/what to focus on between now and 5/28.
