Does anyone have a recommendation for the best review course for REG? I am disappointed in my current review course and debating purchasing something else. I have little to no tax background so I need something that dumbs it down to understandable terms. 🙁

What are you currently using? I used Becker and supplemented with Wiley and I felt like I was prepared for the exam.

What exemptions/deductions/phase outs did you remember. Did you memorize the amounts for the calculation of the AMT exemption? I'm going to play around with the IRC tonight (great Saturday night) to see how quick I can look up certain numerical amounts.

I only memorized the section 179 amounts and the mom and pop exemption. My sims were weird as I had two research questions and the IRC wasn't really helpful for the other ones.

I felt like the exam wasn't really about memorizing exemptions and phaseouts as much as its memorizing the relationships and rationale behind what you're doing. Becker likes to throw a bunch of mnemonics at you saying, “memorize this and you'll be on your way to a CPA” blah blah blah. mnemonics are great, but its not really learning.

Granted, we'll see how well I did and then you can determine if I know what I'm talking about 😀

Whatever you decide on, I highly recommend you add the Ninja audio. REG was my nightmare child and the only thing I did differently when I passed, was adding Jeff's audio. I went from a low of 61 to an 84!
