When you say you memorized the MCQs — do you mean you know the third answer choice is right? or you know the logic, rationale, section it's testing, sub-section it's testing? Better yet, if the question was phrased in such a way where one of the facts was different, how would that have changed your answer? Are they now a qualified?

There's a huge difference there. And for those that are scoring 80's-90's you have to be at that level. Half the battle is knowing what the CPA is trying to test, or better yet, what rule they are trying to test you on. It can seem repetitive to go over the same questions, but only if you are approaching them the same way each time. You should focus on improving how you get to the right answer, not just response time to it.

I agree with Allday. When I took Audit it was honestly like an out of body experience. Every question I would read once and instantly think okay this is what they are asking on this topic and I could literally relate it to a question I had seen in Becker. Not so much with REG because the questions I saw were not so much like the questions in Becker but similar, nonetheless. I am nervous for BEC tomorrow but I have prepared with the best of my abilities and resources so now its time to go in there and knock this one out.

Just remember when your working MCQ's dont' just memorize the answer. If its a calculation one, just read the explanation and if its still not sticking I would advise memorizing the format of their equation, etc. I did that for Audit… and I will never forget one of the MCQ's I kept struggling with I worked and worked and it saved me on the exam because I used the method to calculate one of the answers for my Sims.

I just took my first exam last week. From my experience, here's what I will do for my next test (REG) for the final 2 weeks:

    1. Go over my notes/book for every single subject. When I went over my review for Audit, I only focused on what I thought was important. When it came to exam time, the stuff I thought was unimportant was there! There is a reason they put it in your review material.

    2. Go over every single assigned homework problem again for every chapter.

    3. After doing 1 and 2, I will hammer as many Wiley mcq's as possible. I had a hard time with Wiley after pretty much memorizing the becker questions. I felt like the Becker questions were easy because they come straight out of the book and were generally easier to read, while Wiley seemed to throw some twists in the questions & answers that seemed to mimic the harder problems on the exam.

I noticed on the exam there were questions that were almost word-for-word from the mcq's that I had done in Becker/Wiley, so it's obviously good to get familiar with as many mcq's as you can.

    AUD - 5/13 85
    REG - 7/13 73, 2/14 84
    FAR - 8/13 82
    BEC - 12/13 80

I'm taking Audit a week from Thursday and plan to get in as many MCQ questions I can between Saturday and Wednesday full time. When I need a break I will review notes/audio/flashcards. I refuse to take this exam again!

CA CPA - All because of the journey listed below
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    FAR - 53('10), 8/25/12 79 PASSED!
    REG - 66('11), 69('12), 12/06/12 77 PASSED!!
    BEC - 58('10), 74('12), 01/05/13 77 PASSED!!!
    AUD - 43('11), 66('12), 69('13), 74('13) 7/29/13 85 PASSED!!!!!

    Hi

Thank you for all the input….

@allday…. when i say memorizing answers… i mean that am starting to know what answer is associated with the question…. yes in most case I know why the answer is correct versus why others are wrong….

@bcjasper…. i am getting the hang of knowing why the answer is correct or wrong….. so that is good

maybe its just me freaking out as the big day gets closer….. my MCQ becker and wiley ranges from 87-92%….. and i read the book (just the areas i underlined or highlighted) and feel like I know it….
