Studying Too Long?

I’ve read a few places that 100 hrs. is enough to study for REG. With about 10 days left until my exam, I’m at about 150 hours already, and I’m sure I’ll be closer to 200 hrs. by exam day. I’ve passed AUD and BEC using my current study method, but I’m wondering if I should study smarter. Right now, I’m…

-1st, Using CPAExcel, watching videos for important topics and typing notes afterwards from the study text.

-2nd, After going through all sections, I start over and review my notes and take all the missed MCQs & SIMs for the section

    -3rd, Re-type my notes

-4th, Take the Diagnostic exams in CPAExcel (basically, more MCQs)

-5th, Take the mock CPA exam

-In between all that, I’m listening to Ninja Audio whenever I can & making notecards for topics I’m shaky on.

Thoughts? It’s too late to switch it up for REG, but FAR (next exam) has so much more material…trying to think ahead.

    AUD: 84 - Oct. 2013
    BEC: 83 - Feb. 2014
    REG: 91 - May, 2014
    FAR: 68, 96 - Oct. 2014...DONE

Looks like what you have been doing is working so i would keep doing it. You will probably pass RAG 🙂 so do you really want to switch things up on your last exam?

Imagine how sucky it would be if you switched it up and failed your last exam.

Finally number of hrs to study will be different from person to person. For someone it might be ok to study 100 hrs and for some it might be ok to study 200 hrs and then there are people that might need 300 hrs of studying time to feel comfortable.

I say keep doing what you are doing.

    REG-77
BEC -Waiting on score May 5th
    AUD - May 30
FAR - Q3 depending on if i pass above two in Q2

I agree with GSU. I think everyone's study hours will be different. I plan my study hours ahead on an excel spreadsheet based on how many hours I think I will need. With FAR, I felt like I could keep studying forever and never be 100% ready so I just needed to take the plunge. I think I put in about 230 study hours for FAR. For AUD, I moved my exam up 2 weeks because I felt like I just couldn't imagine looking at the material any longer. I think my total study hours were about 150-160.

    FAR 12/3/14, 87
    AUD 2/3/14, 90
    BEC 4/1/14, 88
    REG 5/27/14, 94

I find the best way to study is to take comprehensive exams, I think one of the hardest things on the exam is switching from topic to topic quickly. By taking comprehensive practice quizzes you'll be preparing yourself for that. Good luck!

I was gonna say what branden said then I realized she beat me to it when I scrolled down lol.

Overstudy rather than understudy, you have one section to go just get it over with, who cares if it takes longer it will be over soon.

Otherwise you'll end up like me lol!

    FAR - 71, 68, 74, (8/31/14) 78 ✔
    REG - 67, 71, 71, (10/18/14) 78 ✔
    BEC - (11/29/14) 86 ✔
    AUD - 73, (4/4/15) 86 ✔

I can't believe this is over! 2 years and 3 months..
