Anyways, after I read all these little itty bitty rules, any advice about how to study the tax definitions, rules, laws…

Flash cards. Literally the only way I was able to remember anything. Write and review over and over and over and over again.

I made so many that I'm still constantly finding them discarded all over my apartment.lol

Similar to above but I used a sheet of notes (front and back) for each major tax section (ie: Partnerships, Special Property, Gift Tax). I'd start writing my notes after I finished each section and then when doing MCQs, I'd refer to it until I pretty much had that thing down pat. It also helps you identify what's relevant to know and tested most on the questions versus small stuff that probably isn't AS important at knowing. There are so many specific rules for individuals versus c-corp, gift tax versus trust tax, and on and on and on. It's good to have them separated to tackle one beast at a time.
