I have taken and passed AUD, BEC & FAR using CPAexcel. I took REG 2 weeks ago and am 100% positive I flunked. It was absolutely horrible. Worst test I have ever seen in my life (including FAR!!). My first credit which is AUD expires 11/30. I have one more chance to take REG and pass before I lose AUD. I probably got 50/50 on the MCs but I didn’t even know 1 complete SIM. I feel like I need to practice the SIMS since they count as so much of the grade.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to material I can supplement CPAexcel with? I cleared all of my scores out in CPAexcel so I am going to start over studying but since I know the types of questions they ask, I don’t know if that is going to help much. Should I completely buy and study another product? Is there a product that just focuses on SIMs? I haven’t had to worry about this before because I have passed the other parts so I’m just not sure what to do going forward.

I may be jumping the gun here b/c the grades have not come out yet but short of Divine intervention, I didn’t pass and I don’t want to waste any time not studying.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

    AUD - 83
    FAR - 78
    BEC - 76
    REG - 86 PTL!!!!!

Used CPAExcel & Wiley testbank (awesome by the way)

Wait for grades. In the event that you do fail, I strongly recommend Wiley. You can purchase it through this site for $87 and it will give you over 1000 MCQs!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

Peanut's right about waiting for grades before you do anything. Even if you fail, you'll still have plenty of time to study for REG before the end of November. If you do need to retake the exam, I don't think that another review course is the answer. There have been a few people who've posted that they didn't see why everyone made such a big deal about the REG SIMS because the ones they saw were tough but came from material covered in their course. The vast majority, though, had a much more brutal experience with confusingly worded SIMS on obscure topics. The only way to really prepare for the exam is to have a solid knowledge of the material and to allow plenty of time for the SIMS (about 1 1/2 hours) so you can use the research tabs when you need to. Going back thru your current material and supplementing with a test bank is probably your best choice. But think positive thoughts until then. This may be a completely moot discussion.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85

I think Wiley is very weak on tax preparer responsibility “testbank and book” get Gliem they have the best questions on circular 230

FAR: 7/17/10 missed exam FML reschedule 8/29/10-77 EPIC!
    REG: 5/31/11-73 SMH, 8/31/11-85
    BEC: 4/15/10-72 : retake 10/3/10-80
    AUD: 11/28/10-74, 02/27/11-71 FML, 8/1/11-80
    Ethics 10/22/22-80, retake 11/28/11 - 88

I feel the same way as the OP except that I felt a little better about the Sims. I knew about half of the MCQs and about 4 of the 6 TB Sims.

I agree with killaking. Wiley is very bad with Circular 230. In the event I failed, I will have to research that topic and buy the Gleim software to do practice questions. I don't know why Wiley doesn't cover much on it. It's clearly listed on the Content Specifications.

BTW- Based on all the posts I'm reading, it seems like a lot of people think they failed REG this quarter. I hope that means that we're getting a HUGE curve.

I was absolutely convinced that I failed REG the 2nd time I took it. The strange thing is that I thought I totally rocked AUD, and I ended up scoring only 1 pt difference on the two… You just never know until the scores come out…
