brikell cpa: you can easily get blaw and ethics out in one week or less. Very easy material to understand so you'll have more time to study for Tax.

    That's true.

    What I meant was:

    Ethics/Professional/Legal Responsibilities (175 questions)
    Business Law (736 questions)
    Federal Tax Process/Procedures/Accounting/Planning (158 questions)

That is a total of 1,069 questions. I figure if I get through 100 questions per day, I will be done with those sections in 10-12 days.

Then there are 823 MCQ left for the actual taxation sections which I will give myself a bit more time of about 14-21 days to get it down as thoroughly as possible.

Then I'll have the final week before the exam to do a final review and practice sims.

Well, how'd it go guys? I studied nonstop for the 5 weeks. Took all wiley questions and problems and about half of the Gleim tbs problems. I finished the material with a short week to review. The actual exam has me nervous. I thought the mc was really not difficult at all and meanwhile the Sims were a nightmare. I maybe only got two completely right including the research. How do you guys feel?

yeah you can do in 5 weeks if you have no job, no life , and no friends.

Basically treat studying like a FT job. 40 hours a week at 5 weeks is 200 hours. That is how much I studied and passed but over 8 weeks b/c I work FT.

    best of luck.

Let me put it like this. The first time I took REG I got a 74. MC was OK, but I bombed the sims. I mean I didn't get a single sim 100% correct. I couldn't find the research question and was completely guessing on a few others as time expired. I failed by 1 point.

I retook REG a month later and thought the MC was tricky all the way through. I knew I had improved on the sims. Found the research and got one other 100% correct along with a lot of partial credit. Let me make it clear that I know I didn't ace the sims. I know I only got partial credit on most of them. I got a 92.

Bottom line is, you don't have to ace the MC and Sims to get a high score. I know I didn't..

Took REG on March 1st and actually thought some of the multiple choice were somewhat difficult and nothing like what I expected to see after doing a ridiculous amount of MCQ on becker and Ninja. Sims were not terrible, felt okay on about 3 and the other 3 had to of been partial credit. Still feel like I am going to have to retake in Q2…

^^^Why would you feel like that? If you aced 3 sims and got partial credit on the other 3 you are going to be fine…I really don't know why people think if they didn't score 90%+ on the sims that they are gonna fail. This exam really is just about hitting a certain critical mass of questions correctly and showing that you are competent. For example, on BEC I didn't write a masterpiece. But I scored stronger on the writing section because I showed that I was competent in the subject matter and could write coherently.

I think people are too hard on themselves. That's why so many people think they failed only to find out they scored an 82..

This process truly has me believing that it’s almost impossible to guess whether you passed or not.

Thought I aced my first AUD attempt, but scored a 71. Thought I failed my second attempt (not taking a bathroom break was a bad idea), and increased my score by 13 points.

Took REG in December and thought I conceivably got every MCQ right. Flagged maybe 3 but had a good educated guess on them. Thought I did well on SIMS and was done with this gauntlet. Scored stronger on MCQ, and weaker on Sims for a 71… Studied a ton for my retake on 3/9 and flagged maybe 5-6 each testlet! So many questions were on topics I had never seen before. The second MCQ I had took almost 10 minutes it was so long and complicated. However, my Sims were very manageable (I think). Expecting somewhere between 68-72.

    FAR - 75 November 2015
    REG - 69 April 2016 (WTH? Test I got isn't what I studied for)
    BEC - 81 June 2016
    AUD - TBD

I dunno, this is my 5th exam. By now I feel like I have a decent read on my performance leaving the testing center. The first exam or two I had no idea how I was going to do..

At a certain point, you know what it takes to pass and what your study habits need to be. Put in the time and really understand the material conceptually and it usually leads to a decent performance on exam day
