Study during Hurricane Irene weekend while there's no power?

I figured I need to start planning out what I should do if my house (assuming it doesn’t get destroyed…) runs out of power for not just one, but possibly >2-3days, which means, no laptop (it will only survive for a few hours with battery)… I use Becker so I relied on their software every single day! I don’t think I can just read ONLY the textbook for days.

My REG exam is Wednesday morning so I am worried. Any suggestions?

Have to do what you have to do, sadly!? Do you have a laptop? Maybe investing in an extra battery would be worth it since you're in a crunch.

Yikes! I hope you won't lose power.

Print out some of the PassMaster questions, especially ones you may have marked.

Print out the answers to the sims and study those, too.

When going through the textbook, write out important concepts; don't just read the textbook.

Borrow a laptop from someone and use it until it runs out of charge. Heck, borrow a few laptops and charge them all up now.

hahaha I do use a laptop. But it will only last a few hours… Borrowing a lot of laptops sounds like a good idea but too bad Becker only allowed you to install the software on 3 computers (and I already used 2..)

My NINJA guides are PDFs – you can print them out or view them on a smart phone/iPad, etc. They make an excellent “cram” type tool (in my humble opinion) 🙂

    Jeff's idea sounds great.

Also, can you get extra batteries and charge them up quickly? I have no idea what they cost or how easily you can find them.

One other thought, you can copy/paste the answers to the Becker final exam questions into a Word doc and print them out to study from.

Are you in the path of the hurricane?

I was just thinking the same thing. I have Audit on Wednesday and was planning to use this weekend to do the Becker suppliment questions and redo some other MCQ. I printed out my NINJA notes and some AICPA recently released MCQ. I charged by laptop and might stop by Best Buy on my way home tonight to look into an extra battery. A co-worker let me borrow an electrial converter for the car. It allows me to plug anything into my car and charge it. I don't think it'll work out, I'll probably just end up with a dead car battery.

    McDonalds has free wifi now…

Seriously though, as long as the roads aren't closed, there are usually some businesses open who have power. As a recent graduate, i've spent a good deal of time working at random coffee shops, and yes, even McDonalds, due to power outages.

    Good luck and be safe!

Power outages will be widespread and there will likely be downed lines/busted up businesses.

    I would make alternate plans.

I also imagine there will be many areas that declare a state of emergency and emergency personnel on the roads only like they do during blizzards. If you get pulled over driving and don't have a pass saying you are a nurse, emt or firefighter, not good.

You can study using the Wiley books and your notes. All of your study time doesn't have to revolve around the computer softwares. In fact, only 40% of my study time is spent on the computer. Doing questions on the computer should only be done to test whether you're grasping the concepts. If you're doing poorly on certain topics, that's a sign that you need to go back to your book and notes and study the topics again.

So power didn't go out during hurricane (although my light flickered multiple times…). I hope that's a good sign for my exam this week.
