    Hello To All!

I am new to this website, still learning how to navigate around… Well here is my story, will try to be as short as possible – people say that’s a talent to have..:) I BURNED OUT! I came from another country about 6 years ago, put myself through the college while working fulltime..Just graduated this past may, got a wonderful job that I am about to start – Tax Compliance..Back in may I decided to “Dive in to Studying”. My first choice was FARE..after 3 weeks of intensive studying I had a breakdown and did not touch studying materials for about 2 months (beckers review – OMG This chapter 2 killed me). Some of my friends were on the same boat as me..We even came up with “Side Effects List from Studying for CPA”..#1 on the list was: two weeks of studying resulted in getting a DOG for $1500!!! Anyhow I got back on track for another 2-3 weeks..And got off the track again..I kept rescheduling my exam for 6 MONTHS..Finally decided to cancel FARE exam. I know I dont get a refund, but I couldnt keep having the thought that I have to take it soon and I am not ready for it..So I decided to leave FARE aside for now and try with REG..There is less information to retain and plus I will benefit from studying sincce my job will be Tax Compliance.. The only thing I need a kick. I always give those to my friends and people around me when it comes to education, health, etc..Any advices would be appreciated. If anybody is in need of virtual studdy-buddy or support – please feel free to contact me…Planning to start studying REG this weekend.

Thank you guys for taking your precious time to read my post!!

IMHO, you haven't made the decision yet to do this. Once you are committed you are committed. Imagine if you stopped feeding your dog because your mind wasn't in it? Imagine if you only went to work when you felt like it?

I get the being burnt out, REALLY I do, I've been in school since June of 2003 without so much as ONE semester off to get my bachelors AND masters done by this December. I've got 2 kids. I work full time.I wish I had time for a breakdown but I just can't squeeeze one in. I could think of a million “excuses” to get off track, but this is a committment until I am completed, not just when I want to.

My advice is, act like your life literally depends on getting the CPA. When you schedule, set it in stone and pretend there is no way to reschedule. This works for me because then I just accept that it needs to be done and I better get my butt in gear. Then it's not a matter of “I should…” but rather an “I MUST”

Another thing, don't schedule your exam too far in the future because it's human nature to procrastinate. Schedule it to sit for the exam within a few weeks. That'll light a fire under your butt… this is also what has helped me so far. I only leave about 6-7 weeks to study.

I get the burned out feeling and I'll be honest, it doesn't stop until this thing is over.

After this Saturday, I'll be studying for REG to take on Nov. 26. I'm here for you if you need support. This site is the best place to get it.

I wanna have a normal life. I wanna go play soccer again.. I wanna go to rock concerts…I want to sleep after work…I want to watch my favorite shows…I want to spend time with my family….I want to succeed…….damn…those are my reasons to get this out of the way….lol
