Should I even bother taking REG or let NTS expire?

All right, so I got REG coming up on July 6. Can’t reschedule and I did not prepare well enough for it (recent workload at the office screwed my study plan so bad). I’m still studying up until the last day before I take it but I think it’s pretty safe to say that most likely I will not pass. With that in mind, should I even bother taking it, or should I just not show up since we know what will most likely be the outcome?

It is obviously up to you to make that choice. If your NTS expires then you have to repay for the exam…I don't know if anyone else would agree but if you already paid for it, I don't see what you have to lose?!

    FAR: I slayed the Dragon!
    BEC: I defeated the Siren!
    AUD: I eliminated Medusa!
    REG: ?????

    @determined_to_succeed,

Do what you have to do either way its a wash because of the study time. Failing score is equally discouraging.

    It begins with a 75

Take the exam! You've already paid the fee and can't recover it so you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. If you don't take it you FAIL and if you do take it you may still fail…but at least you tried. Wouldn't it be cool if you showed up and pulled down a 75??

Back in 2011, I scheduled REG twice and never opened the book. I didn't show up for either exams.

I half-studied FAR and showed up and took the exam. BOMBED.

However, I'm more ashamed to say I didn't show up for REG than to say I bombed FAR. There's nothing to lose by going but some of your time. Who KNOWS what questions you'll get. I wouldn't say to get your hopes up, but you might be able to see how you are with the material from your score.

    R - *77*(02/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    A - 71('11); *87*(04/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    F - *76*(08/'13)-Becker & NINJA - "server upgrade" survivor
    B - 60('11); *82*(10/'13) -Becker & NINA

    DONE, DONE, AND DONE.

Take it for sure. Odds are good you'll remember more on test day than you give yourself credit for now. You could get a friendly test and get hit heavily with topics you know. Just buckle down, go through the material you need to focus on.

    REG - 83
    FAR - 81
    BEC - 7/1/13
    AUD - 8/31/13

“Wouldn't it be cool if you showed up and pulled down a 75?” That would be soooooo cool lol. But anyways, I think that I might just take up on the advice and take the exam anyways. Worst case scenario, it is a really expensive practice test.

I no showed for FAR back in 2006, I wish I would have just taken the test, at least I'd be able to see what my weaknesses are…

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

I am sort of in the same situation only my issue is due to poor planning and only leaving 3 weeks between taking FAR and the end of my NTS for REG. I considered just not taking it and then rescheduling for the next window to leave open the possibility of passing all 4 on the first try, but at the end of the day if you end up passing all 4 eventually nobody is going to care if you did it on the first try or the twelfth try. I say if you have already paid for it and you aren't currently working for an employer who is monitoring your test progress, then go ahead and sit for it and you will have a better feel for what to expect and how to focus your study for the next time. That is my plan anyway.

    AUD - 2/2013 - Passed!
    BEC - 5/2013 - Passed!
    FAR - 8/2013 - Passed!
    REG - 11/2013 - Passed!

If you paid for it you should definitely take it. If anything it will give you a better idea of what is on the exam and what you can expect. You will see 6 simulations which will, at the minimum, give you an understanding of what you need to know when you go back and study. Take the exam, spend the next month studying and then go pass it!

    FAR - 91
    BEC - 89
    REG - 85
    AUD - 8/6/13

Wow- I'm in the same situation as you for BEC on July 8th. Just like you I'm pretty sure of my fate, I just hate that I'll have to wait until October to take it again.

    AUD - 74, 77! (1/2016)
    BEC - 80! (5/2016)
    REG - tbd (8/2016)
    FAR - tbd
