Shortest time spent on REG?

What is the shortest amount of time folks have spent working on REG and had success? I have no tax experience. I am willing to devote 25-30 hours a week if I have to…

Looking ahead to this summer. I want to finish REG and BEC before I attend a major work convention (I work for Big 4) in early August. There, I want to start networking to get out of management consulting and move into financial consulting (e.g., risk, forensic, financial statement), so having that CPA will help. I also don’t want to spend my entire summer studying (June-Aug)…

I just realized I may have to do REG in 4-5 weeks max!

I'd recommend at least 6 weeks at your anticipated rate. 4-5 weeks without any prior experience and while working full-time sounds very ambitious.

I also think you'll find it will require you to devote the majority of your free time during the summer.

    F - 86
    R - 90
    A - 97
    B - 91

I studied for 4 weeks and miraculously passed. Worked full time but my boss gave me 3 days off before the exam to cram. Like you I have no tax experience. It was difficult and I still can't believe it but it can be done.

IMHO, wait and see how you did on FAR (should be soon!) then you'll have a pretty good gauge of how effective your studying is. For some people your timeframe is very realistic, for others not so much.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.
