Hey all, I found out I didn’t pass REG this week and I’m not really sure how to move forward in terms of studying. I have used Becker and I honestly felt like my studying prepared me because I studied a lot of tax. I’m hoping to retake it at the end of October or beginning of Nov. I’m working full time now, and I was wondering if I should switch study software from Becker or Wiley or to Roger as I’ve heard it is more efficient than Becker. Also, how did you guys study after you failed? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

If you liked Becker, and don't have the finances to just buy a brand new study software, you could just supplement with some Ninja materials, at least the MCQ and I like the Ninja notes. This is a lot cheaper than buying a whole new software, and Jeff does a great job explaining different concepts.

Study like you haven't studied the material before is my recommendation. You don't need 1 point or 20 points, you need 75 points. If you study just the weak areas, you have a better chance of forgetting your stronger areas in my opinion.

@Ginja_CPA Thanks for your advice! Do you recommend the 10 point combo or just the notes/MCQs?

Depending on your preferred method of studying, I'd recommend the Ninja MCQ and Ninja Audio. My main study material is Roger, and no doubt he does a great job covering and simplifying a lot of topics, but depending on when your retake is, there might not be enough time for you to work through each lecture. Similar to you, I'm working full time and it took me about 6 weeks to get through all of the lectures (taking notes is what slowed me down) so you might be rushed to complete it before your retake.

I supplemented with Ninja Audio and found it incredibly helpful to get the important areas down to <10 minute ‘lectures'. The shorter (and just as in depth) lectures allowed me to pound more MCQ's and review in other ways (note cards, reading, etc.). I was able to get through the audio in about a week (also taking notes).

Just my $0.02 but wish you luck with the retake!
