Is this one of the major topics to understand? The formulas on this are not hard, but another thing that needs to be memorized, which is one of many. What do you guys think?

Honestly, this doesn't ring a bell and I watched all tax lectures and took a lot of notes. Don't see it mentioned in NINJA notes either, so I would say skip the details.
