Regulation: Simulations were ridiculous? Will I still pass?

Reg is my last exam and the only exam I have had to retake. After diligently studying my heart out trying to cram everything in my head for the second time, test day arrived. The multiple choice went really well. In fact, I told myself “You got this” as I finished the last testlet of the multiple choice. The feeling I had passed quickly left me as I reviewed the simulations.

The material covered in the simulations were briefly covered or not covered at all in my Becker material. I am a little frustrated and I am hoping to get a response to the following questions:

1 – Did anyone else feel like the simulations are ridiculous?

2 – Has anyone felt like they failed the simulation section but still passed?

3 – Is partial credit given for questions wanting a single calculation. For example..if a simulation asks me to calculate the total amount that can be taken for charitable contributions and I add something I shouldn’t have do I miss the entire simulation?

4 – Is anyone supplementing the Becker course for Regulation? If so, what are you using?

    Thanks for your answers.

    1- yes

    2- no

    3- no idea

4- i took becker my first time, lost credit and decided to use roger.

i feel very comfortable with the reg material, for some reason it just makes sense to me as a whole, especially the tax part, b-law not so much, but tax makes sense to me and i find fairly easy to remember. i took reg on 11/3 and i know i did some stuff wrong on the mcq and the sim's that i know for a fact on how to do…. thats why i'm so frustrated with myself.

    BEC: Done
    REG: Done
    AUD: Done
    FAR: Done

    I'M DONE!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    @greatscott22 and @hopeful_cpa

I understand your frustration, and hope you passed!

    To answer your (greatscott22) questions:

    1-Don't remember, but maybe

    2-YES!! (Mostly with FAR)

    3-Don't know

4-I bought the Wiley book to supplement Becker but didn't really have enough time to use it. I ended up passing, but just by a couple of points (-I think. I'm not 100% sure of my mark offhand). I probably should have been more diligent and studied more with Becker and possibly supplements.

    1. Yes

    2. Yes (3 of them were complete guesses)… Performance report shows strong lol. Go figure

    3. No idea, but just in case they do give partial credit, I show them how I got my answer. I use the excel fx calculation box and enter “6,000+ 2,000 + 3,000 – (80,000*.075) = 5,000” rather than just entering 5,000 in the cell.

    4. No supplements. Becker is good enough.

    BEC - 67, 79 - (expires 5/24)
    REG - 74, 72, 77 - Key to Passing: RTFQ
FAR - 77 - Chance favors the prepared mind.
    AUD - 64, (5/14) - FREEDOM!! (i hope)

Scott, My sims were terrible on REG. I was convinced I failed and got a 77. I also thought I did terrible on the MCQ.

Most of us feel like that afterwards. My REG sims were completely off the wall. I thought I bombed every single one of them, but still passed. There's hope.

    REG - 76 (08/30/11)
    AUD - 81 (11/14/11)
    BEC - 88 (02/13/12)
    FAR - 86 (07/30/12)
