I took the regulation exam in August using Becker. I found out during the exams that the MC questions were very similar to the questions in Becker, However, the simulations were much much harder …(i even had a question were i couldn’t identify the specific topic). Well my scores came out…73 and based on the performance analysis i was weaker in the simulations . I am studying now to retake the exams in January 2012 and would like to know what other review courses i could use to practice for the simulations??? Please help …really need any bit of information. Thanks

When you took REG in August, did you make good use of the research function while you were doing simulations? It's really helpful. I took REG yesterday and I didn't really know any of the simulation topics in enough detail to do the simulations, but I used the research function and found all the “rules” needed to solve them. Of course, this isn't very time effective as it takes a while to research. I left 1 hr 30 min for the sims and I thought it was just enough time. I researched every single one of my sims…hopefully successfully.

The research tabs are a must for the REG exam. I finally passed that turd after a 71, 70, and 74. I used Becker and Wiley test bank. I studied like a beast for 2 months. I left 2 hours for the sims on my exam and used every bit of it. 9 times out of 10 you are going to have 4 sims that are out of this world. The examiners want you to research; always remember that. Just make sure you have the tax topics down (basis, realized/recognized gains, and taxation of entities), use the research, and you should be fine. REG is the toughest of all the tests in my opinion so don't feel bad.

I would like you to finish all MCs from Wiley online text bank. You also should have a strong knowledge basis for FAR. Two of simulations were totally out of my minds during the exam, but if you carefully read the problem and it's easily to figure out the answer. Don't just give up and leave any blanks in the exam. BTW, I only left 50 minutes for simulation and I didnt make a lot of researches. After 40 days' efforts, I ended up with 78. Next time you will defeat this monster.
