BEC is out. Hopefully it is not too much longer for us! Sadly, REG always seems to be last :-/

This is for people taking their exams in the July/August 2010 testing window.
June 25, 2010 at 3:00 pm #240446txcpalastsectionParticipantAll,
I used Becker for the first 5 times I took the exam and continued to score right around passing. Switched to Yaeger for the retake of Reg last testing window and got a 95. Listen to Phil's DVDs and study EXACTLY what he says. He will emphasize certain topics and make sure you know those cold if he stresses those topic areas. If he does not cover it, do not worry about it. Put the trust in the review course and do everything they say. I would suggest a heavy study schedule for 4 weeks and take the exam. Good luck to all.

June 26, 2010 at 12:08 am #240447JasonParticipantI am studying reg now, finished all lectures and mc. I am going back over the business law and ethics sections then switching back to tax review using jeff's notes as a supplement. I will then do both becker final exams, and supplement it with cpareviewforfree.com. This is my last test So I will study like no other to finish and be DONE!!
Gluck to all!!

June 26, 2010 at 2:08 am #240448impinkyParticipantI am taking REG on July 23. I'm using Becker and just finished up the lectures this week. I am planning on spending the next 4 weeks going over Jeff's tax notes and doing a ton of mcq. I also found today that I failed Audit so I'll be studying for that exam on july 24.
BEC 77; FAR 81; Audit 70, TBD; REG 7/23
June 26, 2010 at 2:21 am #240449laschndrParticipantI'm not digging this REG stuff at all. I have spent the last two weeks doing nothing.. because the law sections have really discouraged me. I am through lessons 6 of 20 and taking the exam July 24. Lots to do in 4 weeks. I'm thinking about skipping to tax because I think I'll have a better grasp of it, then go back and finish up law then back around to review tax and that should be it. YIKES.

June 26, 2010 at 2:40 am #240450WendyParticipantAfter missing the grade for AUD (72) and BEC (67) I too am finding it hard to get motivated for the REG exam on July 9th!! I keep telling myself though, there is no way that I am going to not pass 1 of these on the first try and I just need to get my butt in gear and figure it out!! I too agree though that the business law section for this one is more indept then I remember them teaching in school, although at that point I didn't think I would ever sit for the CPA exam… Go figure huh?
Hopeful this time around.... Back after a 2 year break!!
BEC - Feb 2013 78!!
FAR - May 2013 76!!
REG - 70! 71! 80!!
AUD - Oct 2013 79!!FINALLY DONE!!
June 26, 2010 at 4:25 am #240451laschndrParticipantI am using Gleim and the outlines are in really technical terms. Lots of latin and things I have to ultimately google and/or consult my lawyer friend. Its really hard to focus on this stuff. That's why I think I'll move on to tax because I can at least understand that stuff. Here's to hoping for the best and toughing it out, as usual..
Wendy – keep at it. You're not far off!

June 26, 2010 at 12:38 pm #240452WendyParticipantLisa, thanks for the word of encouragement. It's easy to get off track in this journey it seems!! I too agree the business law has a lot of terms that I have never heard or blocked out during that course!! Best of luck to you on the exam!!

June 26, 2010 at 5:30 pm #240453rashParticipantLol. I've been using material from three review courses (Becker books, Gleim Books and Test Prep CD, and Yaeger Home Study). I've FINALLY grasped the concept that the first thing I have to embrace is that there are a thousand things I'd rather be doing with my time so I'm not going to truly enjoy any of these courses. I got bored with Phil during taxes, got a little discouraged and wasted about two weeks then switched to my Gleim book and finished up the tax material. For me tax is soooo boring that I would tune out during the lectures and and I'd have to end up reading the book anyway. Since I prefer the way Gleim book is laid out, I just went ahead and endured that torture instead. I think it was successful, I have a pretty good grasp and LOTS of notes to go over. Then when I started reviewing the Ethics and Professional Responsibilities stuff in Gleim…. my eyes were rolling over the pages very slowly but nothing was sticking. So, rather than waste an entire day or two weeks. I decided to stop and review the yaeger lectures. At least they cover it in two hours. I have no intention of reading the chapters in the book so, I hope they do a good job…
Aud- Pass, BEC- Pass, FAR- Pass, REG- Pass.... Done!
June 27, 2010 at 7:51 pm #240454FutureLACPAParticipantI am not feeling overjoyed about this. Taking it 7/2, and I studied everything over and over, and I tried the practice exam, and scored a 66, 50, and 70 on each testlet. That has discouraged me and I can't seem to get out of the rut. It seems I covered every topic to where I am familiar with the material, but don't have enough mastery of the material. I feel like with less than a week to go, I should ignore certain topics (documents of title, real property, and antitrust law) and focus on agency, bankruptcy, and of course EVERY tax topic. Not sure what is the best thing to do at this point. I am using Becker materials. It helped me pass two exams already, but I am not feeling REG. Perhaps do homework over and over? Any last minute advice?
AUD - 89, BEC - 69, 75
REG - 69, 82, FAR - 80 - IT'S OVER!June 27, 2010 at 9:28 pm #240455AnonymousInactive@futurelacpa… I take it this Friday as well. I've been through all the lectures and I'm just now going back through the chapters to start reviewing and start the MCQ. I'm so scared of taxes to the point that I've put it off until now to start reviewing. I would say given my past experience with Becker, if you're doing in that score range of the practice exams, you'll done fine on the actual exam. Becker is also more difficult than the actual exam.
Hopefully I'll have the courage and time to finally face my fear of taxes and get this exam over with this week! Good luck!
June 27, 2010 at 10:59 pm #240456laschndrParticipantI haven't gotten to tax yet, but maybe Jeff's review notes would help. I don't know much about them but for 25 bucks, it may be worth it! If I struggle with the tax section I'll probably buy them. It certainly wouldn't hurt.
Good luck to both of you – let us know how it goes!!

June 27, 2010 at 11:17 pm #240457JasonParticipantWow, Cpareviewforfree.com is money! I am doing the business law questions for reg right now and they seem very similar to the type of questions that I have seen on my prior 3 tests. This is excellent I would defiantly recommend going through these while studying for reg. I think I may have done better on bec had I know about this then!

June 27, 2010 at 11:56 pm #240458AnonymousInactiveJust applied for NTS to take it in mid – late July. Becker expired but I have Yaeger 2010. Some serious “pulling myself together” needs to be done…
