I’ve started studying for this and so far it does not seem that bad. What are the toughest subjects in REG? I’m using Wiley, so I am starting with business law.

    FAR - 93
    REG - 87
    BEC - 84!!!!
AUD - 99!!!!!! CPA exam complete.

This will be different for everyone based on prior experience and exactly what seems confusing to each person! However, the hardest thing for me was the Latin legal terms. Pretty sure I lost a couple points due to them! 😛

It's hard to call one particular area tougher than another. I think the more appropriate word for Regulation material is “tricky.” If you read through each chapter and take notes, you should find the material (mostly rules-based) to be fairly straightforward, although it is incredibly detailed sometimes. The only thing I couldn't truly get a grasp of was AMT, both individual and corporate. You may have read this elsewhere, but the key to passing Reg is nailing as many multiple choice questions as possible. I thought both the tax and business law questions were both very tricky, but since I did over 2,500 practice questions (MCQ only – no practice simulations), I was comfortable enough to pull out a passing score on exam day.

The AMT is another way to computer income tax liability, correct? I remember something about it being instituted to make sure everyone pays their fair share of income tax liability because people were somehow cheating the system due to inflation. Thanks so much @Lilla and @DannyB_Live

@NYCaccountant, I'm using WIley too. I just started and it makes sense to start with the business law section. Do you have any study strategy/tips for the book?

    FAR - 8/6/2016
    REG - 8/26/2016
