    FIRST POST-FIRST EXAM

    Hi, all.

I just took REG last Friday. I prepared with Becker and the 2011 Wiley Test Bank. I suppose I worked about 9 Wiley Tests, all the Becker homework and both Simulated Exams. I felt really good going into the test. I knew the answers to the majority of the multiple choice questions.

BUT WTH happened with the SIMS? Anyone who tested last window have a “Stronger” in MCQ and a “Weaker” in SIMS and still passed? I need a little hope here.

    Thanks and good luck!

It's still possible to pass, but it's difficult. But some people end up doing better than expected on the Sims.

All 4 times i failed regulation, the 2 74's i had, i was weaker in simulation and stronger in MCQ'S…I THINK THEY PARKED ME AT 74…..Since simulation is now 40%

When i got my 78, i was comparable in simulations, thats why i passed……

But in Audit i was weaker in simulations and still passed, so you never know…..

Haha, this topic has been beaten to death so many times, but I can't help it! I hate the waiting game (last time I take a test at the beginning of the testing window!).

Yeah, thats the best part of taking it at the end of a window..results are out in 7-9 days….Hang in there, start studying for other parts..You have a long way, or have you passed any?

That was my first test. I completely over-stressed and didn't sleep the two nights beforehand…and after being so wound-up, it is hard to relax and move on to BEC without knowing my score.

Time to take some deep breaths, I suppose.

Didn't I hear they changed the way they do the Sims recently? I think some of the old Sims were probably more difficult. Now they give more, and they are easier too.

I think a Becker instructor telling us that the AICPA has had trouble getting the Sims to work in the CBT format.

IMHO the more questions in the Sims the better. Since if you have 6 smaller projects to do and you're well prepared you're more likely to get most of the points. On the old format, if you were so unlucky to get dealt the rotten egg, you could be totally screwed blued and tatooed, if it was the one subject you were maybe not so familiar with.

My own personal gripe with the Sims has everything to do with the “Research.” I don't like their database, as its very awkward to use. The queries generate too many hits, or not enough, and the database strains the computers they use at Prometric, very often resulting in a crash or lock up, and if you're so unlucky as to have this happen to you don't expect any sympathy from the examiners. Just mail them another 50, on your way home to start the reapplication process…

    Passed all 4
    Done!
If I can pass, you can too!

Hi guys, I am using Becker 2011 which talks about the numbers in 2011. Should I update my book and memorize everything by 2012 tax numbers? TIA

@cpatobee – I wouldn't worry about numbers too much (i.e. phaseouts). Phaseouts were given and the questions were more conceptual…at least for my exam.

    AUD - 92
    BEC - 90
    FAR - 88
    REG - 90

    DONE!

    Hey all,

First time poster. I just took REG today and the Sims KILLED me. I felt pretty good on the MC but I know I will not pass because of the sims…not looking forward to getting the score back!

    AUD: 76
    BEC: 76
    REG: 78

stealthDC, I took REG last month and also felt the same way with the SIMs. I ended up getting Stronger in MCQs and Weaker in SIMs, but I still passed with some room to spare.

Test is over, relax a bit, and don't worry.

    @stealthDC

I was troubled after taking the REG test which was very very tough, I passed out with a 78 (when i thought i am going to fail miserably) and when i have walked out of the test center with a nice feel i have ended up getting 74 twice in AUD ! So no need to worry you might still end up passing ! believe me, its happened. Crazy things happen in CPA exams because you only know how you have done and you dont know how others have done.

    BEC: 77(Nov 2010), 81(Jul 2012).
    FAR: 80(Jul 2012).
    REG: 72(Jul 2012), 78(Oct 2012).
    AUD: 71(Nov 2010),74(Jul 2012),74(Oct 2012),75(Jan 2013)- Thanks God, without you i couldnt have done this. I'M DONE !!!

I also though i failed Reg because of the Sims..

If you did all the SIMS and you did good on the MCQs there is a big chance you will pass..

Lets say you get 50 of the possible 60 points on MCQs. You only need 25/40 to pass..
