REGing it up!

    I need help! Serious help! I want to be done with this stupid test! I took REG on 2/25 and failed. Miserably. I did good on the Simulation but poor on the MCQ. Obviously I need to start from scratch, but do I have to go back to the absolute beginning? I still have my notes from listening to the lectures for Becker and the Ninja notes. Would it be ok to rewrite my notes and then concentrate on MCQ like there is no tomorrow or do I need to listen to all the lectures again? What are your thoughts?

    I'd say it depends on how well you learn from lectures vs. MCQs. Some people don't do well with lectures. Others don't diligently read answer explanations while taking MCQs. I know which way I learn the most, but you'll need to decide which way works best for you.

    If you have time, maybe there's room for both – and that would be ideal. But the key point here is that you should choose the method that suits your learning style the most, given the time constraints that you have. Don't shortcut anything on this exam. That rarely spells success.

    Good luck!

    AUD - 79
    BEC - 88
    REG - 87
    FAR - 86 - Woot, all done!
    Ethics - 100

    Thanks tbstew! I really don't know at this point! haha I did way more studying for REG this time than for any section and received my worse score. I think I don't understand what the MCQ is asking so I think I should focus on the MCQ. Thanks for the feedback!

    @nolife

    This is the first test I have taken that I have done well on the simulations with the exception of BEC. Typically I have the same problem as you!

    I'm in the same boat. Re-taking REG at the beginning of April. I have two more tries before I lose FAR, so I have to pass!

    @akb – where are you in Texas? I'm in Austin. I did the final review with Becker in Dallas. I thought the tax portion was helpful, but I guess I need to work more MCQ this time around. I was weak in MCQ and comparable in the sims.

    FAR - 79 (2x)
    AUD - 81 (expired), 77!
    REG - 74! omg (3x) 87!!!!!!! I'm done! OMG!
    BEC - 81 (4x)

    @Veronica

    I am in Houston. I travel a lot for work so there is no way for me to go and do the final review. I was weaker on MCQ, even the BLaw which I studied for really hard and was doing amazing on the practice test. Just had a bad test day…not really sure what happened to me!

    I bet you pass before FAR expires.

    @Verionica or anyone else,

    Did you consider getting a second test bank for REG? I am considering it…right now I have Becker and the ninja notes/flashcards. I would hate to think that I paid 3k for Becker and it isn't enough for me to pass…makes me sick to think how much they make on us!!

    @akb9874 – Becker didn't work for me for REG. I decided to go for the Wiley Online Test Bank, which boosted my REG score by 19 points. I did however still rely on Becker for Business Law (Wiley is overkill for BLAW in my opinion) and the ancillary material covering Ethics and Professional Responsibilities and the Federal Tax Process.

    I actually got the online test bank from Wiley but ran short on time. I only worked those questions for a couple of days. I was doing kind of poorly on them compared to Becker which tells me that they are covering different areas.

    I tend to memorize becker MCQ answers, so this time around, I plan to review the Becker ancillary material, my Becker Final Review book and questions, and then work a ton of questions from Wiley. I also plan to review the sims which I didn't focus on last time…

    FAR - 79 (2x)
    AUD - 81 (expired), 77!
    REG - 74! omg (3x) 87!!!!!!! I'm done! OMG!
    BEC - 81 (4x)

    Ya I have seen people asking questions out of their Wiley test bank and it be way more detailed than Becker. Not sure that is a good thing. I really want to get an extra set of MCQ for Reg and Far but not sure which to go with. Gleim is inexpensive too but not sure what to do…

    @akb9874

    For FAR, I used Becker and Wiley. I failed the first time (74) because I freaked out in the middle of the exam. The reason, I spent the last week on weak areas and forgot the easy stuff….some topics that I've mastered were on my exam and on exam date they were out of my brain.

    This time for REG, since I a have no experience with taxes, my plan is to finish Becker's lectures and MCQ's, then work on Lambers' MCQ's program (which I bought the other day) and then Wiley testbank. I am leaving 3 weeks for final review; lots of MCQ's and re-read notes.

    Done 😉

    I am going to get the test bank for Wiley. Jeff has is for $87 right now…what is $87 when it could help me not spend another $200 on re-taking…
