REG… wow

Oh man, REG is absolutely jam-packed with information. Geeeeeeez. At least with FAR, I could solve by thinking though my debits and credits. But REG, talk about ABSOLUTE BRUTE MEMORIZATION. And, I’m not just talking about memorization like some stupid ratio or 3-step cost accounting problem from BEC!

However, I am doing s decent job
retaining the REG information by constantly reveiwing my notes, MCQ, and TBS. And, I have made up a few new Numonics that have really helped.

Some of the MCQ’s are really not too bad, but u better know what the hell you are doing with the TBS. And, there are no debits or credits to save me in the TBS like in FAR.

OK – end rant, but this material has my head spinning a little.

    Any advice or suggestions?

Goodluck everyone and don’t give up. Keep grinding away and let’s knock these exams out!

I agree. Only five days into studying for REG. Starting by jamming through all the videos. I didn't take many notes for FAR, but agree with you on the necessity with REG to frequently review notes. My plan is to go through all the videos and then type up all my notes before starting the MCQ. Seems like mad repetition is key. Good luck.

These are my exact thoughts about this exam and I was initially terrified of it because I know I'm terrible at memorizing info and regurgitating it on test day (unlike FAR where I could think through my debits and credits like you said).

I bought the REG Cram Course from Roger just for the lectures and with that I took notes in the text provided with the course. I was overwhelmed by the amount of pure memorization needed for all of that information.

One thing I did differently with this test than what I did with FAR and AUD was go into the Ninja MCQ after taking notes and on all of the lectures and using the adaptive learning MCQ in 10-question quizzes over and over again. I knew I was going to get repeat questions using this, but without the repeated questions, I wouldn't have gotten the repetition I felt I needed. What kept me engaged and focused on it though was that because I did the MCQs in such small bits at a time, I was always trying to beat my last score. I could also do this at work when I had time for a 5-10 min study sesh.

Now I'm through all of the questions (which I probably saw each of a few times in this last month of studying) and doing some final review of some sims before I take REG tomorrow.

@Daniel I am doing the exact same Study method. I am hoping it pays off for us and NINJA prepares us well for the MCQ.

Thanks for all of your replies and listening to my rant. I am happy that Ninja helps u study better with REG. It seems like constant repition is the key to REG bc there are not many patterns or debits and credits.

    Goodluck everyone.

@Blue Color ,REG is just opposite of AUD. AUD look simple and easy but you may see lot of horror stories of 71,72 etc.REG is just opposite ,it will look like monster but it's easy to pass.
Try to solve the problems (Home work ) and then only read the chapter, you would be fine.
If you read the chapter it's normal to feel overwhelmed but once you start solving you will find it's not that difficult.
Yes keep practicing, don't worry about memorizing ,they don't test your memory in REG as much as they do in AUD.
I can only say this is the easiest paper I have found so far.straight questions no tricky or complex questions ,no phaseout type questions .

I agree with wannaFree REG is the only test I have passed. Test is not hard but pretty straight forward, but even then I think I wouldn't have pass it without Ninja MCQ. Read the explanation, concept and regulation code on Ninja when you get something wrong and it will make you pass. BTW I was trending low 60s in Ninja a day before test and passed with an 82.

I found flash cards to be my best friend on Reg. With the amount of material, it was important for me not to get too far away from any topic. The week before the test, I used the cards and if I knew it inside and out, I got rid of it (into a drawer because I was sure I was going to fail!). My goal was to have my stack of 150+ note cards down to 10-15 by test day. I ended up with about 20 on test day. I read through each while waiting in the Prometric center, and ended up with an 80. That was my 3rd time taking the test, but was first with note cards. It all depends on what works best for you, but for me the note cards really helped me grab the extra 7 points that I needed to go from the 68 to 75+

    Hope this helps!

I got blasted by REG the first time I sat for it. Used Ninja MCQ to turn things around for my 3rd and 4th attempts.

    AUD - 1st - 60 (12/12), 61 (2/13), 61 (8/13), 78! (11/15)
    REG - 55 (2/16) 69 (5/16) Retake(8/16)
    BEC - 71(5/16) Retake (9/16)
    FAR - (8/16)
