Reg Tomorrow – Have not studied all of Business Law

I have my REG exam tomorrow morning and I have not looked at section 8 of Becker Review ( roughly 1/3 of Business Law). Is it worth the effort to finish section 8 which will probably take me most of the day? Or should I just focus on general study for Tax. I am debating because business law is only about 17-20% of the exam and I’ve studied most of it.

Thanks for all comments and opinions.

I feel like the portions of B-Law that I didn't study much on were tested on my REG retake…so take that for what its worth…fml

If i Were you I wouldn't study it. It will only make you feel unprepared heading into the exam. You have covered most of the material, and it is no guarantee that 1/3 of bus law will show up and if it did you might be able to solve it without having studied it. Use the day to relax and let your mind get ready for the grind tomorrow. Good Luck!!!

When I took FAR the first time I did not study financial statement accounts and specific transactions, events and disclosures (pretty dumb considering almost 50% of the test is constructed of questions on that topic). I skimmed through those sections a few days before my exam. I scored a 70 and obviously it came back that i was weaker in those two areas. Even though I was not properly prepared, skimming through those sections gave me a fighting chance on the multiple choices (which in your case, business law is generally multiple choice questions). Good luck and no matter what you do I am sure you will be just fine.

I assume you've at least watched the lecture and reviewed the material? I'm a big believer in knowing a little bit about a lot of stuff on exam day. So, I would at least skim through it tonight if I were you. Or maybe even in the morning before you take the test. Something will likely stick and most of us pass or fail these things by a few points. You never know what might push you over the top.

But, if you are strong in tax and you know 2/3 of business law then you will likely pass.

Look at the AICPA questions for R8 (assuming you are using becker). Review those and read the sections that they cover on those questions. This will at least give you a general knowledge of the key topics the AICPA has tested….

I had a lot of Bus Law on my test. I would recommend studying all of it. Leaving sections out usually sets you up for failure. Reschedule if your not ready, but I would not skip a section

I took REG in October and I have to say that I spent too much time studying BLaw and I think I failed because of this. I spent waaayyy too much time trying to make sure I remembered every little thing from BLaw and I think it was at the expense of forgetting my tax knowledge. Blaw is only 20% of the exam (in theory, I know everyone's exams are different). If I had to do it all over again (and I am pretty sure I will have to in January), I would have focused much more on reviewing Tax during the final days before the exam.

    Good luck to you!

I just took it. Thanks again for the comments. I ended up just skimming the BLAW at the last minute

Sims were brutal. Honestly, don't know if I passed. Didn't feel 100% about a lot of my answers.

I only did a brief review of Bus Law. Know the other stuff and you should be OK.

    BEC - 80
    FAR - 81 (third attempt)
AUD - waiting for score 8/23
REG - 09/08/2016 - going to cram and wing it

I dunno…I feel like I got tested on some really random B-Law stuff that I didn't study much and didn't expect to see on the exam
