Does anyone have any study strategies for REG that they’ve found helpful? This tax stuff doesn’t come naturally to me and I’m not a huge fan on the way Becker teaches it.

I’m on R3 (using Becker) and have found that I’ll watch a lecture and then do the multiple choice and its almost as if I hadn’t watched the lecture (I guess I’m having a hard time remembering the tiny thresholds/exceptions/rules). After watching the lecture I’ll have a good overall, general idea of the tax rules but I’m finding that I’m only scoring in the 50’s on MC problems due to the very specific rules and exceptions. Also, the lectures are taking me forever to watch because I feel like I have to reread EVERYTHING at least twice. Should I focus less time the lectures (maybe skip around-not try to understand every little detail) and spend more time on MC, reading the textbook, or taking my own notes? Maybe making outlines? Has anyone found flashcards useful?

I definitely need to revise my study strategy so any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated! I am just spending WAY too long on each lecture/homework. Thank you!

    FAR: 87
    REG: 90
    BEC: 74(ouch), retake 7/16/16
    AUD: 96

I looked up tax codes, read textbook on the topics I really needed help. I printed out tax forms which helped me see real pictures when numbers end up in. I wrote down c-corp, s-corp, partnership differences between liquidation, non-liquidation, contribution, etc that you will see on the exam for sure. It worked for me and I scored 77.

    REG: 77 x2
    BEC: 81 x3
    FAR: 68 retake 10/1
    AUD: 8/27
