Starting Saturday I will start studying for REG. Taking FAR tomorrow and feel completely defeated from it!

-I have Becker
-Will purchase NINJA notes, audio, and MCQ package

I have the NINJA notes and MCQ for FAR and read about the NINJA method, my question is about

[N]ailing down the concepts – would it be recommended that I read the Becker book and watch the videos twice maybe? I speed the videos up because when I stop to write all the notes it takes FOREVER and I end up getting stuck and feeling defeated then I can’t remember stuff from a few weeks prior. I have never been much of a note taker either.

Any advice or thoughts on doing this for the [N]? and then for INJA

rewrite the NINJA notes
[N] gazillion MCQs (yes, GAZILLION)
[J] rewrite notes again
[A] more MCQ and reading NINJA notes

With this, I also plan to listen to REG audio non stop.

Also, during the I and J – should I be doing MCQ or purely focusing on rewriting the notes.

I take REG July 3 and work around 30 hours per week. Doable?

One last question – at any point should I revisit the Becker material and watch videos and read entire book again? Unless for obvious reasons like I am struggling with a topic.

I know no one has replied. But I don't think I used the NINJA method, I can only attest to how many hours you're planning to study for REG. 30 per week until July 3 is plenty. But make sure that those hours are QUALITY hours. Quality over quantity when it comes to these MCQs.

I don't remember how many MCQs there are for REG but I always did a set of 30 after every chapter, obviously to test my knowledge. I STICK with that topic until I consider myself at least 80-85% understand and make an educated guess. Frame your study habits based on how you learn. Since REG has SO MANY minute details (>.< individual tax), I would consider rewriting notes for certain chapters in between learning new chapters. It helps your memory refresh and it'll be a nice break from learning something new.

Also, when you're doing MCQs, don't neglect taking notes during those sessions. I didn't use Becker, so I guess you can use it when you encounter random tax factoids.

I am open to any feedback! My first FAR attempt just feel like a complete fail 🙁

In high school and college I was one of the people who never really had to study a lot so I never really developed proper study habits to know what works for me and what doesn't. I rarely took notes too so that is a new thing for me as well which is why I plan[ned] to rewrite the ninja notes. I wasn't an overachiever but I was content being a mostly Bs and some As student because my GPA was still pretty good.

When I first started to study 3 months ago, the first month I thought was going ok, finally getting the hang of Becker and getting a decent pace but was still behind. I felt really determined to catch up and ended up with a sinus infection that moved into my chest – ended up being seriously sick for a solid 3 weeks, like going to work and coming home to and go to bed was about all I could accomplish. I tried to stay up and study but I would just cough and cough or fall asleep.

So the last month up until the test I have tried to catch up but I feel like nothing has stuck and I am just in a whirlwind of confusion. I know I am not going to pass but I want the testing experience.

I found this pure gold website and feel really determined to give REG everything I have as long as I can get effective studying down. I'm not sure if being out of touch completely for 3 weeks did something to what I had retained but I just couldn't recall all that I had really studied the first month.

Sorry this is kind of rambling on – I'm just frustrated D;
