REG study hours

I put my exam date (07/19) into the Ninja MCQ bank and marked off 4 days a week I can study. It calculated that I needed to study 6 hours a day until my test date. That’s 216 hours! Wow. For those of you that have taken and passed REG, does that seem right to you? I was shooting for 160 hours between now and then. That is going to change my entire study plan. I’ve taken enough tests to know it varies by person, but that’s a big difference.

CPA Exam - Finally DONE (November 2014)
    BEC (08/10/13) 80
    AUD (08/24/13) 65 (11/13/13) 85
    FAR (04/12/14) 81
    REG (07/19/14) 69 (11/29/14) 87!!

Wow, Mamabear! That is amazingly close to the 223 hours I will have in when I take REG on Tuesday. For me, I feel like I need pretty much every hour for this one. I put in 170 hours for BEC (probably an overkill), 160 for AUD (also an overkill), and 230 for FAR. I am super nerdy and I have planned out my schedule and tracked my hours for each exam in an excel spreadsheet.

When I started studying for REG on April 2nd, I had slated about 180 hours by 5/27. After I read the book once and started on the MCQs, I ramped up my study time from 20 hours per week to 30 hours per week to take my total study time from 180 hours to 223 hours. I have to admit, the materials for this one are a little tough, and I have a tax background. Everyone is different though.

    FAR 12/3/14, 87
    AUD 2/3/14, 90
    BEC 4/1/14, 88
    REG 5/27/14, 94

It depends on your familiarity with material. I put in around 90-100 hours but I'm fresh out of my maters program. I could have studied a lot less based on my score and that I turned the exam in with an hour left.

    Only you know yourself best.

Bummer. I don't have any tax experience and truthfully I hate tax and blaw. I guess I better get to it and pull the 200+ hours. Thanks for the responses.

I don't know how busy the Prometric center is in your area, but you could always schedule then move your exam up if you feel ready earlier. I did that for AUD. I had slated 200 hours, but after 160, I felt like I couldn't look at the material for another two weeks. I paid $35 to move my test date up.

I'm still trying to figure out how to get in the hours in the 8 weeks I have left before my NTS expires. I doubt I'll be ready in time to take it any early, but thanks for the tip!

Dig deep, Mamabear! You can do it! I pretty much gave up my entire life the last 6 weeks and was just motivated by the thought of being done. I know you are in the same boat. I do nothing besides work, study, sleep. Repeat. Ha ha.

I'm the same way. Just having a hard time getting back into after my 6 week break after FAR. I needed that time with my family, but it's hard to jump back in. I will kick it into gear this weekend. Thanks for the encouragement!
