    Hi aa!!! nice seeing you too- q4 seems down right bleak from where I am sitting… sigh. here's hoping for a better Q1 so we don't all become guinea pigs for the new one.

    @mckan! yeah it feels like most my study partners didn't pass this quarter :(. Good luck with FAR, it's a beast! REG is tricky whereas FAR is just piles of material–I am going to make a bold statement and say we all pass first quarter! You heard it here first!

    @re2pect
    please ignore that part. It relates to something but at the moment I don't know well enough to elaborate. It doesn't relate to life insurance proceeds. And you wonder why I don't help out much on these study groups..i feel like i do more harm then good lol!

    I didn't pass. Weaker on the TBS.
    Now i will retake it on Jan or Feb max. Any suggestions what TBS is good for ? is Becker enough ? this will be my first time to study TBS from Becker?

    @demarcon so lets say a gleim sim asks me the at risk limit on a scenario that does not relate to an S-Corp or Partnership…do you say they are at risk for the entire loss (since there is no technical at risk rule applicable) or do you put zero? Those are the type of sims that confuse me…the ones where you are like, wait a minute at risk rules don't even apply for this scenario…hmmm….

    Also, limited partners…I assume they have at risk rules as well?

    @dtatham10- What study unit is that sim from? I'm struggling just to get 60's on the ones that I did.

    At risk rules for C-corps and stuff basically just means what you have invested in the stock. Limited liability in general is you are only at risk for what your basis is. Partnerships you're at risk for EVERYTHING.

    Alright @demarcon I'll have to look into that a little closer because you have my lost. @re2pect it was a hypothetical. I've seen a lot of different at risks questions from past–can't remember exactly where, random concepts pop in my head and I ask questions lol.

    At risk basically means what can you lose. In a limited liability situation you are only at risk for your investment in the company. If the company closes down they can't come after you personally for the money.

    Popping in to say hi to the “oldies”. I have no idea how to get back into it. How do you pull yourself out of the rut after failing and how do you start studying again? I have been staring at the screen for over an hour now and I don't know where to begin!

    I was hoping to take FAR right at the end of the testing window in March, I am afraid this is not happening. Would 8 weeks be enough for FAR (late night and weekend study only)? That's assuming that I will be ready to retake on 1/5/17. I am hoping that 2 weeks would be enough to do a complete review for REG.

    Blah…

    If a CPA prepares a return for free. Is he considered a tax return preparer? B/c I thought you are a preparer only if you get paid$$$$? Any thoughts

    Hi, Reg is my last part . I took it in November 14 and failed with a 70%. I was weak in the simulations. I am taking the exam again January 9. I work for a Big 4 so I don’t have a lot of time. I’m making 100 multiple choices per day aprox. I have seen all the video, read all the material and I’m still getting 60% to 70% in the MCs. I don’t know what more to do. English is my second language, but I don’t think thats the problem. I’m frustrated and stressed. Please help!!!!
