@namstut awesome! So at first glance why's guaranteed payments in both sections?

@dtatham10, they are reported on Partnership Income Return form 1065 and then separately stated on Schedule K, and then Partner's K-1.

Guaranteed payments are for services just like salary or payments for use of capital. They are an expense to calculate ordinary income (for the partnership) and separately stated income items (for the partner).

What helped me understand it is to print out forms 1065 (schedule K comes along with it) and then schedule K-1. It brings everything together and makes it easier to understand.

Just went through 2 study units of individual tax sims on Gleim. They're much more in depth than Roger and Ninja. My head's still spinning from the section on deductions and limitations.

Don't ask me how this is even possible, but I got a 68 on REG. This is after putting all 0's in the sims and not even answering the research question! I give up on trying to figure out how this thing is graded lol.

So I'm back. Got short 3 points in REG. For those of you that have done retakes what should be the study approach? Any pointers please. Also when can I schedule a re-take?

@Sticky Nicky- You def have a shot! It makes me more optimistic about my retake because I was expecting something in the 50's or even 40's. Hopefully Gleim sims will get me over the hump for next time.

Hmm.. My NASBA page doesn't say attendance for REG yet. That has me kind of worried. Usually the morning after it updated from NTS issued to attendance.

@aatoural ah man that sucks! sorry to hear that. It'll be alright, just a minor setback. For me, retakes are tough, especially if you feel like you gave it your all the first go around. I would suggest just approaching it like the material is new. If you just try to plug holes then you will neglect areas you used to be strong at and by the time the 2nd exam comes your old strengths might be your new weaknesses. I haven't sat for my exam yet so I can't say from experience but I've heard Gleim sims are great if you feel like you struggled in that area.

Best of luck! I'll be around till at least the next score release!

@dtatham10 – thanks. Yup I heard that too about Gleim SIMS, but also heard they are 100 bucks. I thought about buying Ninja MCQs for re-take, apparently it has helped a lot of people, but they seem to be pretty much like Beckers. AICPA makes some serious money out of us. Do you now how long I have to wait to apply for new NTS and re-schedule?

Does anyone know when they announce the score release dates for next quarter? I'd like to schedule my exam towards the end of the first one. I think it's usually around the 20th of the month.

“Does anyone know when they announce the score release dates for next quarter? I’d like to schedule my exam towards the end of the first one. I think it’s usually around the 20th of the month.”

This is also how I scheduled my exams, after I had to wait a month before finding out my first score. I couldn't find an answer either so I just made mine for mid-month.
