I just found out that I failed REG for the 2nd time and I'm feeling down. The first time I scored a 71 (Aug) after only studying 3 weeks. I decided to buckle down and start all over. I reset all my stats from Becker and went through the lectures and courses again to only get a 69 this time. I'm not sure where to go from here. I would love to hear from anyone else in the same boat.

Hello guys, joining the REG the study group and hoping to finish it by the end of this window. I'm scheduled for 11/30 and will be studying full time. I plan to do the Becker lectures and read through the book, highlighted parts only. Then supplement with Ninja notes and blitz. The first week i'll try to go through the material as fast as I can with minimal MCQs and no SIMS. the final two weeks will be only MCQs and SIMS 🙂 let me know how you guys feel about my plan and if there's anything you guys can add will be very helpful. @Zubairs… Good to see you here..i think it is a good plan as it looks like you have BEC on stake..less the time, better it is, you can stay motivated and not get overwhelmed with this subject..Put your best into it. I need to hurry up and study harder as i am just way behind my target. We can do this 🙂

I have heard a few times people say there will be only tax simulations and not any on Law. So should I just skim through the business Law sims?

@cpahopeful.. I think yes, i will just be doing Tax simulations as well..or they shouldnt be too long or hard, if you have time.. Doesnt hurt to go through them as well.

[Tax lady]

I'm 8 days away from my REG re-take and I'm doing MCQs using Ninja. I get so frustrated because I go up and down so much. My session results graph on the dashboard looks more like an image of my heartbeat than my scores! I literally can go from making a 100 in one session to a 50 in the next session. (I usually do 10 questions at a time) Is this normal?!

Yes it is, but are they all new questions? After you have done every question, then do nothing but troubled questions the rest of the way.

How do you guys define passive income? Here is a sample question, I guess I just don't get how they know which is passive.

“Edge Corp met the stock ownership requirements of a personal holding company. What sources of income must Edge consider to determine if the income requirements for a PHC have not been met?

I – Interest earned on tax-exempt obligations

II – Dividends received from an unrelated domestic corporation”

I understand the PHC rules (meeting ownership and income test) but when looking for the income test here I need to determine which is passive income and which isnt. As far as I know they are both considered Portfolio income rather than passive income. Any thoughts? Checked Becker, Investopedia, etc. no dice.

By finishing up you mean all mcqs as well..thats great..i am just half way becker book/lectures, no where close to half of Mcqs, but just hoping for good study time rest of the days and just thinking i will pass even though i know i am way behind of how much i should be done with by now..

MCQ in Wiley book…yes. I did those as I read the chapters and I've only done tax. I'm reading blaw now, but I want to focus a lot of my energy on tax. The SIMS killed me last time. Actually the only MCQ I did well on were individual tax and blaw. I have a long way to go in the next 4 weeks. We can do this! Glad to see a familiar “face”. We were in the Q2 FAR group together, right?
