    Taxman – answer C.

Over $1,000 total wages in a quarter

I believe it is the unemployment that is at the request of the employee…unless I have the two reversed.

Wages paid for domestic services are subject to Social Security and Medicare taxes if they exceed $1,800 in a calendar year to one employee. Only those employees whose wages exceed $1,800 for the year are subject. For calendar years after 1995, the dollar threshold of $1,000 is indexed for inflation.

I agree, the phaseouts especially kill me…I had a limitation on a SIM that I knew the 2013 but not the 2014.

Wanted to offer a correction to something I said so I don't mess people up:

“You do not need to withhold federal income tax from

your household employee's wages. But if your employee

asks you to withhold it, you can.”

    From the IRS:

Pay total cash wages of $1,000 or more in any

calendar quarter of 2013 or 2014 to household

    employees.

    Pay federal unemployment tax.

Because we don't have enough limits to remember. 🙂
