When are you taking your exam?
Taking Reg end of july probably around the 31stWhat exam topic keeps you awake at night?
S & C CorpsOne study or career tip others might find helpful.
Rewriting and trying to put things in your own words.June 19, 2018 at 12:22 pm #1837670JamesParticipantWhen are you taking your exam? Next Exam is on July 3rd!
What exam topic keeps you awake at night? Contract Law, business structures, Liability of Loss
One study or career tip others might find helpful. Work the MCQ's to death, don't lie on the scores (if you got it wrong, you got it wrong, its ok), right after you finish MCQ question sets, go back and immediately review the MCQ set you've just taken. The questions you did not get right, find the topic in the study review and re-read the whole section/or part pertaining to the question. Fully understand why you did not score correctly and make notes. If you need to go any further on the topic (sometimes the book can wrap your head around without the clarification), go to the video and see how they explain it. If something still does not seem clear, try and google it! Many times I have found clarification outside of the review courses.
Also, when you are taking MC questions, keep a list and write down the specific areas you want to review as you are testing. Once the list reaches a good number (5-10), take a break from MCQ's and break down that list you just made and understand the concepts you're missing out on.June 19, 2018 at 12:23 pm #1837676asadkahloonParticipantFor Jeff's Giveaway,
-Reg Scheduled for July 20, 8AM. Pretty sure Im gonna ask to take it when the testing center opens at 7am since they said that was an option.
-Federal Taxation of Entities really scares me. I haven't gotten to that chapter yet in Becker, but listed to the NINJA Audio on that section and it seemed like a ton of things to keep straight. Also doesn't help that its listed as being the highest percentage on the AICPA guidelines.
-One study tip that I think would help, and heck who knows I'll only know if it helped when scores come out next week, is to really try and understand the material. Its far more efficient, at least I thought it was for me to fully understand the material and then tackle the MCQ's. Too often I would get a lot of MCQ's wrong and then while reading I'd realize all of the info was in the book the whole time.June 19, 2018 at 12:25 pm #1837682NicoleParticipantHello,
I just started studying for audit. My company only reimburses for Becker so I'm stuck with that and will try ninja notes as a supplement. I've been studying on and off for a year and still haven't passed any.
BEC – 74, 70
REG – 69
AUD – TBD
FAR – TBDJune 19, 2018 at 12:25 pm #1837685lukmanthomasParticipantHi Everyone,
I will be taking REG exam on July 3, 2018. The topic that keeps me awake at night is partnership: calculating basis, gain/loss, adjusted basis, outside vs inside basis. One study/career tip I have for you would be don't get too stressed on certain topics, you should balance your understanding across all topics instead of trying to understand every single detail of every topic.
Hope that's helpful!

August 2018, exact date TBDWhat exam topic keeps you awake at night?
For REG specifically? I haven't dived too deep into it yet but I'm worried about mixing up similar but different laws and getting a string of questions wrong as a result, especially in the SIMS. I feel like there's a lot of detail and minutiae that could give me trouble, but we'll see.One study or career tip others might find helpful.
Review your high level notes once a day as you progress throughout studying, whether it's when you wake up, during your lunch break, or before bed. I feel like memory retention for studying can be difficult especially if you're also working a job that is mentally taxing (no pun intended), have other responsibilities, etc. But looking over stuff on a daily basis as you go along helps keep things fresh in your mind.June 19, 2018 at 12:27 pm #1837696TerriSilvaParticipantFor the giveaway:
When are you taking your exam? August 31
What exam topic keeps you awake at night? Corporate Tax!
One study or career tip others might find helpful. If you have a section that Ninja uses Bob Monet's videos for, watch them! He is amazing and probably a big reason I passed AUD in March.June 19, 2018 at 12:27 pm #1837699ahreum.han94ParticipantCurrently on the first chapter of REG using Roger.. Plan to take it sometime in August.
THIS WHOLE EXAM IS KEEPING ME UP AT NIGHT. I am really not looking forward to corporate tax as I have absolutely zero knowledge. I am praying I pass before the end of the year. The changes are going to be a killer. This will be my first time taking REG, still waiting for my BEC score.
Roger has a lot of mnemonics so I've been just writing them down over and over, and it has helped a lot. As I've learned from taking FAR twice (and passing on the second try with an 88), I would suggest not moving onto another chapter until you have the current chapter down, and I mean completely down. There's just so much content, and I am so tempted to skim over things, but FAR taught me that is a great way to get a 70 :/June 19, 2018 at 12:28 pm #1837705AnonymousInactiveEntering the giveaway because there's a very good chance I'll be starting the study grind again next Thursday. Took REG and FAR in May, fairly certain I failed since the tests felt like they were in a foreign language. To be fair, I didn't study (my NTS was expiring and first year busy season was much more demanding than expected), so I really deserve the score. I figured I'd take a hail mary to get the jitters out and then redouble study efforts in the summer once work slows down.
So…
When are you taking your exam? TBD – some point in Q3, as my hard deadline is December.
What exam topic keeps you awake at night? The word “tax”. Literally does not matter how simple the topic, I've been flipping out the concept of taxes since my Intro to Individual Income Tax class.
One study or career tip others might find helpful. Don't listen to anyone about how you should study for the CPA. All my friends killed themselves doing the Becker Fast Pass program that my school “encouraged”. Most of them still failed at least one exam. It's all about what works best for you. If you were always excellent at learning from listening to lectures in school, incorporate more of that in your study program. I learn by reading, so 10 hours of lectures aren't nearly as useful for my brain as one hour of intently focused reading. I wasted a lot of time on the front end of studying for BEC and AUD by trying what worked for everyone else instead of learning what actually worked for me.June 19, 2018 at 12:30 pm #1837724jeffmarafugaParticipantHey guys!
July 2nd will be my third attempt at REG, any last minute advice? Praying for a passing score this time… I’m thinking about becoming a NINJA but not sure if it’s worth it for a little over a week before the exam. Any advice would be appreciated!

I am still shocked and choking on FAR exam that I took in June – that still keeps me awake. I started REG with Individual Taxation – very interesting! Love the subject.

One study or career tip others might find helpful. Be consistent and stick with a study plan but have one day off to refresh and relax (it seriously helps) If you're working full time, wake up a bit earlier and study before work, during lunch, and a bit after. It seems like they're aren't many hours in a day, but if you discipline yourself, you'll be surprised with how much you can get done in a day!Good luck everyone!
June 19, 2018 at 12:43 pm #1837757royParticipantPlanning on taking Reg second week of July, just paid my $10 eligibility application fee to Texas so waiting to complete payment process to actually schedule. This will be my second time taking as it expired on me, so the whole exam keeps me away at night. I would hate to fail it the second time around after passing it the first time.
The best advice…Don't Procrastinate!!…Life will always happen no matter what, but we have to just stay disciplined and buckle down.
