Well hopefully you all passed, you never know how you did until you get the score back. I walked out of FAR and AUD almost certain I failed but ended up passing. I am taking REG 9/10. I feel comfortable with all the topics for the most part. But I wish I practiced SIMS more than I did. Mostly been doing MC and practicing research SIMS, just to get comfortable working with the AL. As of right now I feel pretty confident in passing, but I am sure I am going to walk out thinking I failed.

    FAR – 76
    AUD – 77
    REG – 9/10
    BEC – TBD

practice sims, then do even more sims. Also be sure that you haven't memorized the MCQ answers, I think that was my issue. I've looked at them so much I knew the right choice but not the answer.

Does anyone know where to get the AICPA practice exam simulations answer explanations?

took REG this morning. started off okay. last 2 sims were like a christmas tree exercise for me. ughhhhh. I even tried to use AL to answer them but just could not come up with numbers that made sense to me. 3 months of studying. 2 weeks of cramming. and they managed to ask questions on my weakest areas haha. like where was AMT?!!?!!?! I was ready for it!!

@PDiddy2000 haha that's crazy. I went to Italy (study abroad 9 day trip) two years ago and bought three bottles of Chianti, one of which I haven't opened and am saving for when I pass all 4 hours. In due time. Hoping to open this during the holidays in December. It'll be perfect timing.

I took the exam today. This was my second time taking it after failing last qtr with a 65. Simulations felt easier this time around. I would say while Blaw and Ethics questions are covered in the exam . Based on two of my experience you must study everything and you must know everything. But I would say know everything in and out of tax portion before starting ethics and blaw is the least important section.

Took my test today. The first testlet was well distributed didn't have an issue on any of the parts. Second MCQ Testlet was ethics and BLAW, my weak areas, I think I circled like 25/38. The second testlet seemed harder to me but then again I didn't review much of Ethics or BLAW so they could have been easy questions but I couldn't recognize it. The SIMS were okay. I think I got the research right, on average probably 40% – 60% right. I think I totally bombed one SIM because I didn't cover the topic sufficiently. Let's see what happens.

@Nikkie320 Study the Corporate & Partnership formation/basis stuff backwards and forwards. Work as many MC and SIms on these as you can.

I have failed REG twice! First time with a 55 (June) and second time with 52(August). I am using Roger CPA review. I am wondering if I should purchase new material or take a different approach to studying. I have been out of undergrad for 4 years, so I am reteaching myself the material. Any suggestions are grateful.

Hey everyone…I failed the Reg again. Could anyone advise which CPA review course are people studying from? I have used Rogers so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi @Usmirza87, I used Becker when I studied for REG. It was good, but I don't think it was necessary to pass. I have seen lots of people pass with Roger/Gleim/Wiley/Becker. What areas do you feel you are weak on, or is there something about Roger that you don't like? Maybe this can help narrow down what might be your best option.

    Hello All,
I just got my REG results back a few days ago, 78. Thing is, I really felt good after the test. I felt like I should've scored a 90ish. I almost feel as though maybe my score was curved downwards. Who knows. As long as I passed I guess it doesn't matter. Anyway here's what I did to prepare, hopefully it helps someone else. First I did Roger REG review. All videos then all MCQ. Second I did Wiley REG, about 85% of Videos and 90% of MCQ. Then once I could run through a set of MCQ on either averaging a 70 or above I started going through the TBS. I mainly stuck with the Wiley TBS because they function in a more user friendly way than Roger. All in all about 5 months of studying. The tax classes in my graduate and undergraduate classes always kicked my ass so, I knew going in this was going to be my biggest adversary in the process and I wanted the clock to start after this beast was out of the way. I'm working on FAR now. To me this makes more “sense” than REG. Still tough but not as tough as REG for me. I plan on doing AUD next, which actually came easy to me in college and finish things off with BEC.
Ever hear the joke about if you go to jail and don't want anyone to mess with you? Knock out the biggest dude in the room first. That's my take on this process.

I have a question for those of y'all that use becker. Can someone explain to me how they calculated the basis for the property and cash received by CPA Fanatics?
They use the formula FMV of property received deferred gain + Deferred loss. I hate this formula.
I tried using this formula: Adjusted Basis of property given up + Gain Recognized -Boot Received + Boot Paid.
    Basis should be 220,000(adj basis) + 7,000(gain recognized) – 7,000 (boot received)= 220,000.
The Becker solution says 290,000. Can someone help explain?
