marqzhoParticipantWould you consider taking $75,000?
This is not a counter offer. This is just merely an inquiry.

Just3LettersParticipantHey everyone! (Hi Marqzho!)
Just coming over from the dreadful area called FAR to another dreadful area called Reg…
Quick R1 questions:
1. Under the qualifying relative exemption for dependents, one of the qualifiers is “Under Personal Exemption Gross Income Amount”. What is that amount? I think it's $5,000 but not sure.
2. Under the qualifying child exemption, what is the “Support Test Changes” qualifier?
I don't feel that Becker explained R1 very well at all 🙁
Thanks!

mckan514wParticipantWelcome Just3! I think this is what you are asking-
The qualifying Dependent / relative exemption for 2015 is gross income less than $4,000
The qualifying Child Test is age, residency and dependency- so if the child is under the age of 19 (24 if full time student) and lived with you for at least five calendar months, is a citizen of the US and did not provide more than 50% of their own support then they qualify

Just3LettersParticipantlol thanks for reminding me McKan…
coming from FAR to REG is like going from being a senior in highschool to a freshman in college. I once again know nothing.
Question: Is it true that between ISOs, ESOP, and Non-Qualified stock option plans.. only the non-qualified have tax treatment?

mckan514wParticipantHEY Spartan! See you went and broke up the FAR Fam when you switched your Reg date to sit for BEC– ha ha ha ha I seriously doubt you (or Just3 or Claudia) will be re-sitting FAR but I will update you all on my retake- ugh I dread it so….
Just3 I am much more of a tax and law person than FAR so REG so far has not seemed impossible to me (this opinion might change after I sit next week but…) 🙂 ITs a TON of information but just keep chipping away at it- and DON'T FORGET to do regular review quizzes or you will completely forget what you learned in prior weeks—
Qualified options are not taxed to the employee when granted or exercised (under the regular tax); tax is imposed only when the stock is sold.
Nonqualified options are taxed when exercised and all restrictions on selling the stock have expired, based on the difference between the price paid for the stock and its market value at exerciseand they ask me why I drink...

Claudia408Participant@mckan @Spartans @Just3- HA! totally gonna retake FAR! not even thinking about score release date… thinking FAR retake late August if I can get Reg out of the way. I've been focusing on tax the past 2 weeks and haven't touched Biz Law mostly bc I am very confident there will not be a Biz Law SIM. But I'm gonna start this weekend. But yea the FAR forum was the best in the year I've been on Another71.

Spartans92ParticipantHaha mckan, No way I have a chance at FAR! I am kinda happy because I feel like I still dont know a lot of concepts in FAR. BEC is just a lot of memorizing for the formulas, should have a good chance of passing 🙂 I will be joining this section immediately after BEC. Hoping to move my REG date up even. I am also more into TAX than financial side. Who doesn't love saving money?
Good Luck to you next week mckan!
@Claudia, I know I am not even stress about the release date haven't been thinking about it like AUD where I actually thought I had a chance. Focusing on BEC only at the moment.BEC- PASS

mckan514wParticipant@Claudia- don't mean to scare you but that “magical” (or is it wistful???) thinking of “I will NEVER EVEr get a SIM on this topic” caused me to miss 3 of the 6 in FAR….. 🙂
I will be later than Aug for FAR probably more like October or maybe even later depending on how well I do on the others… really should have pushed it back and not sat this last time KNEW I didn't feel ready but oh well- what ya gonna do except pray for a major curve….

debitcashParticipantAS FAR AS MY RESEARCH SHOWS ME, THE 2014 AND 2015 SECTION 179 LIMITS ARE DIFFERENT. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO ANSWER A QUESTION LIKE THIS IF I ONLY KNOW THE 2015 SECTION 179 AMOUNT OF $25,000?
On February 1, 2014, Pam Baker purchased a $161,000 machine (5-year property) for use in her business. Pam expensed $161,000 under Section 179 in addition to the regular depreciation of 20% in 2014 and 32% in 2015. Pam's total deductions for 2014 and 2015 for the machine are:
Select an answer:
A.$161,000 (2014) and $0 (2015).
B.$67,800 (2014) and $108,480 (2015).
C.$7,800 (2014) and $12,480 (2015).
D.$32,200 (2014) and $51,520 (2015).
*********************************************
Pam's 2014 deduction is:Section 179 $161,000
20% x ($161,000 – $161,000) 0
——–
$161,000Pam's 2015 deduction is:
32% x ($161,000 – $161,000) = $ 0
The 2014 IRC Section 179 deduction was $500,000/$2,000,000 with a 50% bonus depreciation. On 1/1/15 the extension for 2014 lapsed and is now at $25,000/$200,000 with 0% bonus depreciation. These amounts are currently being debated in Congress.
FAR:75!

mckan514wParticipant@debitcash- prior to 2015 it was $500,000 deduction with a 2M phaseout +50% bonus depreciation- each question that I have encountered for section 179 keeps saying both amounts so I memorized both…
