Inactive@Anna, if it makes you feel any better, you are one of the people that make me panic about my lack of tax knowledge because you always seem to know the answer! So in other words, if you didn't know the answer on the exam then odds are you were not the only one and the text will be curved accordingly. 😉
Are you going to study for BEC now or hang around this board until you get your score back?

InactiveErica,
if I fail it would be because of business law, I did relatively OK on taxation part, I think. If you unlike me spent enough time on blaw, you should be fine! I also feel like I just got extremely unlucky with my mcq's. Most of those i remember I got wrong, were not covered in my text at all, some exceptions, little things.
No BEC, I am actually back to studying REG

Participant@Erika Nope, no tax background besides VITA. I do attest and audit work; thus, I'm leaving audit for last. 🙂
I'm in the same boat, probably going to be purchasing Ninja MCQ for REG toward my review time-frame (end of June) so I can still use it at the end of September should I fail.

InactiveTony,
I'm in a similar situation. I took Reg on May 30, and all other 3 sections are TBD. The Reg exam was my very first one. 1st testlet was ok, ranging from easy to medium I think, and 2nd and 3rd testlet were as hard as hell. A couple of the questions were like from nowhere, never seen relevant topics on Becker or anywhere. The SIM's were hard too. 1 research question, I don't think I got that right. Can't wait till June 9 to see the results.
I'm still deciding which one to take next, BEC or FAR. It's kinda depending on what I got on Reg. Probably will do FAR next.

InactiveDoes anyone know what time EST are the scores usually released? e.g. what time on June 9th? 8am? 2am?
Thanks.

Participant@CPALDCPA,
It is scheduled for 1am EST, but the server usually crashes so your best luck is around 2am EST when it comes back online.

Inactive@Tscape, I hear you – I am in audit myself and will take that part once I pass REG.

InactiveAnna, sorry for the late response. Here's hoping you did WAY BETTER than you thought. Don't get discouraged. I know that you are more than capable just by reading your posts. You know your shit and you work hard. And you've already passed AUD and FAR with excellent scores.
The Gleim SIMs are good practice, I believe, and yeah, as boring and horrendous as the book is, it really pays to read it. And I've found that no matter how counterintuitive it may seem, the Gleim suggested study steps really are effective and helped me more than doing it my way. Take the MCQ 1 even if you don't know anything about the subject matter. Watch the audiovisual and highlight your book as you go. Do the TF test. Then read the chapter, take the little quizzes at the end of every subunit (in the book), and maybe create some flash cards as you go. Then do MCQ 2 and keep doing MCQs until you nail it, then SIMs. But honestly, it sounds like you've got it all under control. Maybe just not enough time.
Did you feel horrible coming out of AUD and FAR as well? I've never come out of a CPA exam feeling like I did well.

InactiveThanks coloradorit!
just started doing gleim mcq's chapter by chapter yesterday. I was so frustrated when I found some answers I missed on a test in Gleim book, but not in Roger's. But yeah, not enough time for my usual process and I really psyched myself out before the test. I had flashing lights and sirens going off in my head the whole time. Some things I didn't know, but really should have guessed if I was thinking more clear.
I haven't felt this bad after AUD or FAR, no. I was actually hopping for passing score even though I wasn't sure I did good. There are less questions in REG than in AUD and FAR, that's why I feel pretty bad considering I know of at least 12 were wrong and I feel there were more. I'd estimate I got maybe 65% right. I guess I could still get 75 if I did well on difficult tax questions and sims, but I swear I can already see this 72

Participant@coloradorit – Are the changing requirements for CO really going to mess everything up for you? REG attempt #5 is my last chance before FAR expires, so I am kind of in the same boat. I won't continue if FAR expires…so EVERYTHING hinges on my REG score…sucks.

InactiveLast chance, yeah, if i can't submit my application by 6/15, i will need 2 more years of school. That's not happening. Good luck to you!
Anna, remember 6 questions on a hard testlet might be an okay score. I definitely had more than that marked. My 3rs testlet was a complete mess. Night and day from #1. Really hoping we all pass!

ParticipantAnjanja- sorry for checking in late- been slammed at work. It sounds like you did well on the Sims and tax mcqs. Some of the business law questions are pre-test, I'm sure. If you did well on the Sims, that can really pull up your score, as most people freak out on the Sims. Best of luck to you, hoping to see a passing score for you!!

Participant@coloradorit – I can't imagine that you can't do something? Isn't there a “grandfather” clause or something since you started the process before the requirements changed?

InactiveThat's why I was pleading with them, but they would have none of it. They kept blaming me for not reading the materials despite the fact that I did read the materials, but it wasn't enacted yet. I guess they think 2 years is more than enough time – clearly they have not taken the exam themselves. You submit your application by 6/15 with all requirements met, you're grandfathered in. Otherwise, you're screwed. I am not sure whether I can still get licensed in a different state or how transferring licenses/scores and all that works. I asked somewhere else on the board but I don't think anyone wants to touch that with a ten foot pole.
I have given REG my life since February with all I've got. I wanted to walk in and out of that exam knowing that I passed. But that is not the nature of the CPA, at least not for me. I walked in AUD knowing the material inside and out and walked out devastated, yet managed an 87. I walked out of FAR feeling even worse, and got an 86. I walked out of BEC feeling confident, and it was my worst score out of the three. All scores were close, but such different experiences!

ParticipantWell good luck. Research your options. They make it hard for people to become CPAs. It's BS. You would think the Enron/WorldCom fiasco would make the CPA gods realize that we need smart CPAs. You certainly have good scores and would be a shame to lose you to some arbitrary education requirement…
I am actually going to through NH even though I am from DC and now living in CA. I don't know how that's going to play out, but I have met all the requirements for most states, so I should be ok.
