I keep remembering questions from my test and checking the answers, mostly law ones, and I got a bunch wrong, too many to pass i think. Kind of disappointed by Roger's study materials, there is not nearly enough covered in his book. K, waiting to join that Q3 group now

I am forcing myself not look at a couple questions that I still remember from the test because I will be really disappointed if got them wrong. All I am doing right now is studying for BEC. Did quite a bit of studying while working. So hopefully it turns out for a positive results on June 9th for REG for everybody.

    My REG exam this afternoon:

I don't think it was a difficult exam and I didn't get any “huh?!!” questions – it was certainly an exam which someone who had put in their ‘due diligent' time studying would pass.

Unless, like me, you blanked out on simple basis questions which you had mastered, or suddenly started using percentages to calculate a shareholder's share of E&P (whereas you only needed to use the direct figures – I could kick myself after the exam!!).

My first testlet was easy – but of course I am sure I got some questions wrong because of sheer insufficient practice and nervousness. I hope my second testlet was harder but I couldn't tell. I got an almost equal number of “blaw” questions as I did taxation and general calculations. My SIMS were easy – again, if you had studied well. Straightforward questions, easy answers, and could find some in the IRC. I messed on on some, of course, especially my research question which I spent 12 or so minutes but still not sure I got it. I hope I pass, but I sigh every time i think about how easy it was an how i just as equally easily messed up.

As for the ‘left field' questions some people said they had, I didn't have any. What I noticed, though, is that the questions were similar to what I had from CPAExcel except that they had a little twist to them. So, when you use practice questions, try to look at an alternative version of a question, for example,if the question asked about the basis of property with a realized gain, think – what would the answer be if it was a realized loss instead … stuff like that.

    Longer post than was intended.

Good luck to anyone taking the exam tomorrow!

Same like Anjanja and lilbro, I have checked some of my answers and I had them wrong. It's so infuriating to know something but then you get in a test and you doubt yourself and answer wrong. *sigh*

I knew concepts behind most of the questions, but some of them were just weird. Say my course material and ninja test bank would be asking about the gains on this particular kind of transaction, and I was asked about the loss. Still can't find how it's determined and don't remember what I answered. Or it's just worded weird, ugh

Also, these questions when you are not sure whether it's 10M total assets or 10M gross receipts – I got one of those and got it wrong – it can't be pretest. I already know of at least 8 wrong ones for sure, and how many more I don't know about

The exam yesterday was challenging. I finished up with less than a minute to go. I felt better about the multiple choice than the SIMS. Overall, the exam was tricky and it asked a lot of the exception type questions rather than the basic plug and chug type questions. I walked out of the exam not knowing if I passed or failed. We shall see. Good luck to everyone!

So I finished my first week of R1 and R2 on Becker yesterday. Took a progress test with 40 questions this morning and got 100%. Looking back at the homework, it is pretty weak as far as volume so most of that was probably the question population. Anyone else feel the same? Maybe it will get better as I add more material…

@anjanja – I feel completely the same as you in regards to knowing the concepts, but the way they word the questions and/or answers throws you off. I can explain the concept to someone at least 75% accurately, but the answers given to basic concept questions are beyond the study materials, IMO.

I am assuming that I failed the test, not because I remember a bunch of questions that I know I missed, but because I did feel confused on a lot of the test and I haven't passed a section yet (FAR/AUD). This test experience didn't feel any different than the other 2 I failed. Not trying to be pessimistic, but …

@Tscape, so you mean you feel like you did too well on your progress test? Am I understanding your question correctly?

I am doing (second round) and it is going better than R3…although I had to make a concious effort to not be p!ssed off the entire time. 🙂 This week I will move on to R5 but plan to do a progress test for R1 and R2, and plan do re-review R3 (the hardest chapter for me so far).

I haven't even received my failing score yet, but already lost all the confidence for this and future tests. Keep remembering more questions I got wrong – worst feeling ever, I have a list now. Almost all business law and some ethics, couple of taxation

I am using boring Gleim book this time around, that's for sure

    @Erika

I'm just stating I hope the question population is a little more difficult moving forward, because I shouldn't be doing 80% the first time through (not to mention between R1/2 there is only 200 some questions). Some of the Becker questions are out-dated as well on the tax stuff. I figured they would have changed them for FY2015 figures with the update. 🙁

@Tscape, ok, now I get it. Do you happen to have a background in tax? That could account for part of the high scores. I definitely am not scoring high however I do worry about the adequacy of Becker's questions. I did not want to buy any supplemental MCQs but I might look into the additional questions sold by Becker, or possibly the Ninja MCQ.

@anjanja – I'm sorry you're feeling so down…I've felt the same way. I don't have any great “advice” but I do know many people – have felt the same way.

    Wishing you all the best!

I took my exam on Saturday morning – I too wasn't sure how I did. I understood and could answer many of the questions well.

Then, I would get to some and I'd wonder – what was the rule for that? Or – my calculation wouldn't come out the same as I thought it would've.

The hardest part for me were the sims….ugh…..not sure if I mention what they were if that's “disclosing” the testing material or not. All in all – the couple I did that I struggled with freaked me out! 🙁 So, we'll have to see how things go.

I'm not sure which exam to take next either – I have FAR, AUD and BEC to take. I've passed AUD before, but I've really struggled with FAR and BEC.

    Anyone have thoughts?

    Tony

I actually thought SIMs were so much better than MCQ's, no tricks, no twists, just enter ## in shaded cells. I'd rather all test was SIM's. There were some things I got wrong, I only know of two mistakes for sure, but i really couldn't have known. I see the general consensus is though, you can do well on MCQ's and lousy on SIM's and still pass, but not sure if other way around.
