I noticed that the Becker simulations were much more difficult and much harder than the actual exam as well. I have to say out of all sections, the Becker REG simulations prepared me the least well for the test. In my opinion Becker's sims are a great way to gauge how much you really know since it requires you to apply the principles you learned in non multiple choice questions. I would recommend reviewing notes, re-watching lectures, and doing ALL the multiple choice before moving on to sims. Don't let doing poorly on the Becker sims psych you out. If you are doing well on MC and seem to be getting the answers right for the RIGHT reasons (aka not just recognizing the question and memorizing the answer), you are in good shape for the exam including the exam's sims.

Inactive@EuroAddict,and 1dayatatime thank you for the response , In this forum I have heard that the Reg sims are brutal and they don't give any drop down boxes , so I was wondering what kind of question they are giving for the SIMS , I just want the general ideas . I am using the wiley book and for every module , they have one kind of form to fill in the sim .
anyway how you all are practicing for the authoritative literature.

ParticipantJoining as I'm sitting the exam on the 13th. This will be my first exam, my second will be AUD in the same testing period 2 days later. Unfortunately this is forced by circumstance, I'm having to fly from Germany to sit. Hoping for the best as I've been studying since July but I'm worried the travelling will screw me over. Only time will tell, until then I'm studying hard out and trying to study both evenly.
Using Becker only. I've been through all lectures and am doing all multi choice questions now. I have 14 days off over Christmas so I'll be studying full time through that period. Fingers crossed.

ParticipantI don't get it (Gleim)
John and Mary were divorced in 2014. The divorce decree provides that John pay alimony of $10,000 per year, to be reduced by 20% in 5 years on their child’s 18th birthday. During 2015, John paid $7,000 directly to Mary and $3,000 to Spring College for Mary’s tuition. What amount of these payments should be reported as income in Mary’s 2015 income tax return?
A. $5,600
B. $8,000
C. $8,600
D. $10,000Answer (B) is correct.
Gross income includes amounts received as alimony or separate maintenance payments. Alimony is defined to include a payment in cash if the payment is received by a spouse under a divorce decree if certain requirements are met. The payments for tuition could be considered alimony even though paid to a third party since they are for the benefit of the payor’s ex-spouse. Any amount to be reduced based on a contingency related to a child is treated as child support, which is excluded from the payee’s gross income. Can someone please explain?
Edit: nvm I'm slow, they didn't say anything about the 20% in the answer explanation

ParticipantHi guys, can anyone explain why the full $10,000 was not subtracted in Dale's basis? Should I not consider the loan for equipment a Partnership liability but just Dale's?
The answer is 10,000+5000+7500+1000-3000-2000= 18,500
But I thought it would be 10,000+5000+7500+1000-3000-2000-10000= 8,500Dale was a 50% partner in D&P Partnership. Dale contributed $10,000 in cash upon the formation of the partnership. D&P borrowed $10,000 to purchase equipment. During the first year of operations, D&P had $15,000 net taxable income, $2,000 tax-exempt interest income, a $3,000 distribution to each partner, and a $4,000 reduction of debt. At the end of the first year of operation, what amount would be Dale's basis?

ParticipantFailed AUD and BEC, plan to take REG in February. I'm obviously not doing something right when it comes to studying. I did a ton of MCQs and thought I knew the material going into the tests. I was studying a minimum of 15-20 hours a week for both tests. I'm starting to get a little discouraged with the whole process. Any tips, tricks, pointers that anyone can give me would be great! I'm using Wiley to study along with the test bank.
