A little late to the party, but I'm in for some REG. Gotta get through Q3 Provision this week though before I get into study mode. Exam in late November, but before Thanksgiving.

    Starting all over.

    FAR - 11/27/13

Grammar Question: “Made within 90 days OF filing the petition”

Does it mean 90 days before filing or 90 days after filing?

"It's not about the hours you put in, It's about what you put in the hours."

@momof4: This is an item of bankruptcy priorities – Employee Wages.. Here is the study text from my book:

“Employee claims for back wages, salaries, or commissions (including vacation, severance, sick leave, and other benefits) but limited to those earned within 90 days of the filing of the petition or cessation of business (whichever is first) to a maximum amount of $11,725.”

On Wiley book, it says: Wages, salaries, and commissions, including vacation, severance and sick leave owing to bankrupt's employees up to $11.725 per employee earned within 180 days “before” the petition in bankruptcy was filed or cessation of business, whichever occured first.

    DONE!!!

    Thanks tsokoberst.

I have a question though: Is the partner's share of ordinary income form the partnership subject to self employment tax?

I just found out it is subject to self employment tax for general partner. I wonder if it's the same for limited partner?

Hi guys! I'm taking REG tomorrow and spending today reviewing all of my notes and final practice exams (which, btw, I got 69 on both of them). I'm only using Becker as I have for all the tests (this is my last section!!!) I'm not sure if I'm over thinking this topic or if I just have no idea what I'm doing at this point, but I was wondering:

when a shareholder contributes property to an S. Corp, does it have the same treatment as far as G/L realized, recognized, and basis, as it does when a shareholder contributes property to a C. Corp? In the becker book, all it says for S Corps are how to compute the shareholder's basis (which is similar to partnership basis except for liabilities) once the S Corp is already up and running, but not necessarily for when the shareholder contributes property to form the S Corp.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! 🙂

I'm sure this has been asked and answered already, but are the Becker practice exams harder than the actual exam like the other sections?

    BEC 86 7/10/12

How heavily does “Government Regulation of Business” topic is tested on the actual exam?

This topic includes such as Federal Securities Regulations and other law such as Anti-Discrimination.

I haven't read all of the posts so maybe this question has been covered, but are estates and trusts a heavily tested topic? Anyone else having a hard time concentrating on it?!

I think it is the luck of the draw. Look at my score for REG. It came down to one question really. I thought of at least 3 that I answered in a hustle on the exam that I could have answered correctly if I had not been so rushed. Any of them could have changed the exam for me. My advice, if you know you are weak in an area, spend some time there. I test in less than a week so I am trying to cover as much ground as possible. It is hard to retain it all but sometimes just a familiarity is enough to help you reason through a question.

momof4 – I've gotten a 74 in Regulation too, and it's the worst! I cant even imagine what it must have felt like as your last section too! You'll get it next time around though, don't get discouraged!!

    REG - 72 (Oct 2011), 74 (May 2012), 80 (July 2012)
    FAR - 77 (Feb 2012)
    AUD - 70 (Aug 2012), 89! (Oct 2012)
    BEC - 71 (Dec 2012), 75!(Feb 2013)
