MemberDear all,
I am taking REG on 11/29. I should be able to finish Wiley corporation today and move on to partnership earlier evening. My goal is finish the rest of business law sections on Becker & Wiley homework before 11/15, by this schedule, it will give me two weeks to do final review.
I didn’t purchase final review from Becker, the following is the lists that I want to follow for my two weeks final review:
1. Work on Becker/Wiley homework again
2. Work on past of 5 years AICPA release questions
3. Work on cpareviewforfree questions.
I feel like I am running out of time, by review these, I am hoping I can pass it this time, I got 70 last time, and I want to get passing grade

MemberHi all,
I'm taking REG on 12/6. I can't seem to get through business law. I find it very dry and boring. I've been a tax accountant for a number of years so I hope this helps with the tax section. I've told myself that I need to be through the rest of business law by 11/13 so I can start tax. I want to use my last week for review and MCQ. From what I've heard I need to spend a good deal of time on the SIMs too. I've got my work cut out for me over the next several weeks.
Good luck to everyone in their studies!

MemberHi, rspencer2121
I know how you feel about business law because that's how I felt when I took REG last time. This is what I am going to do when I need to review business law parts.
Go over with Becker book, then crazly working on homework over and over till I memorize them.
That's how I did last time when I took REG, and I did okay on that part.
Hopefully it helps

MemberI am using Becker & Wiley for my REG exam. I am working on Corporation taxation parts now, I feel like I did pretty well on Becker but not too good on Wiley.
Should I worry about it a lot?

MemberHi guys! I am currently using only Becker (2012) material to study for the REG exam scheduled for 11/26/2012. I am contemplating to start doing additional MCQs using either Wiley( Ninja Notes +Wiley) or CPAreviewforfree. CPAreviewforfree does come out to be cheaper – $9.99 for SIMS and $30 for MCQ. Which additional material is everyone using? Which one is better as a review (1 week) before the exam? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

MemberWhen I started studying for REG I though I would struggle with tax and do excellent on business law. Ummm no. I cannot get through the business law sections.They are sooooo boring!! And all the questions are so wordy, I feel my eyes rolling to the back of my head. I only have two weeks left before my test and I don't know if I should just focus more on tax or suck it up and memorize as much as I can from business law too? I feel like I am wasting time trying to learn something that my brain is probably not even retaining.

MemberFirst time posting on the site (very exciting…)
Quick question. I'm using the 2012 version of Becker for REG and have received an update notice. Since I have the software installed on my work computer, I can't just update things. I will be sitting for REG this month.
Does anyone know if I should be using the new numbers provided in the update (phase-outs, exemptions, etc) or will my 2011 book still be fairly accurate when I sit for the test? I'd hate to think I've spent one billion hours studying to then get there and be thrown off bc my numbers are dated.
Any advice? Thanks!

MemberPractical questions – based on the content of REG exam
1. do I have to memorize those phase out amount or threshold for those adjustments, deductions?
2. do I have to know which form to fill out for different issues?
I just finished chapter 2 and have been confused with the $ of phase-out, qualified threshold and a bunch of forms mentioned there. I tried to be pragmatic in exams… if the exam doesn't normally stick to testing those stuff, I would shift my memory room for other concepts.

MemberHello fellow candidates:
I am a little bit frustrated,tired,and sad, and need help from all of you guys. I started my CPA journey with FAR back in April/ 2010. I studied with KAPLAN review course and took the test on 08/31/10 and passed it with a score of 80. I was very happy to pass it in the first try. Now since my socre has expired, I am studying for it now and I am scheduled to take it on 11/26/12. Now I am using BECKER.Since I have started studying for FAR, a lot of material that I enconter are not familiar at all. Has the content changed so dramatically. How I can take advantage of the hard work and sweat that I put into it in 2010. Especially I need help from folks who have the same experience as mine. I have already thrown out all the material that I used then. How naive and supid I was. I thought I would be able to pass all four parts on first try, but boy I was wrong. The only thing I kept is the “power point” print outs with my notes. Should I go back and review those. Please whoever is reading this post if you can help me do so. I really appreciate for your help and hope that you pass CPA exam your first try. Thank you

Member@FTZ,
Per the current AICPA CSO, business law is 17-21% of the total exam.
Multiple choice is 60% of the exam.
Make sure to check out the CSO outline of all sections (re % of exam & topics), if you haven't already.
Using Wiley
FAR = 94 Feb 2012
BEC = 92 April 2012

ParticipantHey guys,
I'm scheduled to sit for REG on Thursday. This weekend is my last weekend before facing the beast, it is my first time sitting for the exam so I really have no idea how bad it's going to be. Fortunately for me my some of my co-workers completed the exam fairly recent so they were able to provided some helpful tips. Tax is not my strong suit so I hit the panic button this weekend, getting a 61% on one of the Becker's final exam didn't help either…
I remember coming across some meme about Gandalf. I'm posting it here hoping that someone out there who are probably going through the stress like me will be able to get a chuckle out of it =D
