@Qlad this is just my 2 cents, but I hope it helps you somehow.

I think you should go back and read your notes once again, focus on the topics that you always find yourself unsure of the answers. Then, go back and answer the questions again, this time without looking at your notes since you won't have them for the actual exam. I usually try to keep my notes away from me when I am taking the tests. I also like to take notes (on a notecard or legal pad, sticky notes…anything around me during the tests) and write down the particular answers to the questions that I always get wrong and think about why it should be the answer, so that when next I read my notes, it's there.

REG is more about the application of the rules, so you should think about the rules that could apply to a particular question, before you answer it.

Good luck…I hope this helps you some how. My exam is this coming week, so I kinda understand the panic you are feeling.

    FAR - Passed
    BEC - Passed
    REG - Passed
    AUD - Passed... DONE!!!

    Ethics - Passed (December 2013)

Sorry if this has been posted already.

For REG, does the AICPA use 2013 tax amounts/rules or the 2012 amounts? For example, the Medical Expense deduction is for qualified medical expenses to the extent they exceed medical insurance reimbursement and 7.5% of AGI. However, in 2013, it is going to 10% of AGI. EXCEPTION: It remains 7.5% if you're 65 and over. So, which threshold (7.5% or 10%) are we supposed to use on the CPA exam?

I'm using Becker and on their website, there was a downloaded PDF showing pertinent tax updates.

    Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

@Accounted4 I think you are supposed to go with the 7.5%. The exam is based on the 2012 tax laws.

    FAR - Passed
    BEC - Passed
    REG - Passed
    AUD - Passed... DONE!!!

    @CPAstateOfMind

Thank you very much! I was marking some of the key tax updates in my book, and surprisingly, I seem to be remembering both.

I assume then that anyone who takes in January will then have to use the 2013 amounts. Anyway, hopefully we all pass this year!

    hey there

The updated Ninja notes say from July 2013 Medical Exemption is going to 10% of AGI. EXCEPTION: 7.5% if you're 65 and over.

Rogers has the same Update on that too.

    FAR 05/27/14; 786/110 - Done !

@Accounted4 It's good that you remember both. I am the same way with some of the exclusion amounts, like the gift tax exclusion which was 13K for 2012 and 14k for 2013.

Yeah…the goal is to pass this year! We can do this!
