@ insiyah24, I just looked it up. for 2012 the limit is $125,000 and the amount exceeding $500,000 is reduced dollar for dollar. I was thinking the same thing as you when I read it. I hope that helps.

In the Becker book , they say that if a property is held by two people and one dies….then 50% of that property will go to estate even if the proportion was not same for the contribution….but i just did a Wiley question and it says only the percent that the expired person had paid for the property will go to his estate,….which one is correct?

@Qlad, the only time property is always 50% included in the estate is if your SPOUSE jointly owns with you. A joint ownership with anyone else does not include their share of ownership. Hope that helps.
