I feel far behind being so close…I'm praying the next 3 weeks I can jam all the knowledge in…I have been studying at work while working which I think is driving me bonkers…ok I'm done venting, going back to work…

I just found a concept seemingly contradictory in R1 of Becker.

Basically, Salaries to employees are neither included nor deductible to self-employment income BUT salaries paid to a paralegal is deductible to a sole proprietorship's income.

Is it just a difference of business types (self-employed and sole proprietorship)?

    AUD: 2/28/2013 - 86
    FAR: 10/19/2013 - 83
    REG: 1/6/2014 - 80
    BEC: 2/27/2014 - 81

A sole proprietor is a self employed person.

A sole proprietor will file the 1040 and Schedule C which allows a deduction for salaries to employees. I would think you would file Schedule SE as well for self employment.

    Hope this answers your question!

What is going on with all of these new updates…

So if I'm taking the REG exam on January 4….do I use the 2013 or 2014 materials(updates)?

What would you guys say is the most difficult topic for you to digest?

    BEC (July 2013)
    FAR (OCT 2013)
    REG (NOV 2013)
    AUD (JAN 2014)

The CPA Exam is an opponent that not even the Fellowship of the Ring would want to come across.

    I have a long...long...journey ahead of me.

    @ igotthis – Thanks!

Never mind about my question, though. Salaries are deductible to sole proprietorships/self-employed individuals. I didn't read carefully enough. Salaries to the self-employed aren't deductible as they are considered drawings from the business. That's roughly what I got.

    AUD: 2/28/2013 - 86
    FAR: 10/19/2013 - 83
    REG: 1/6/2014 - 80
    BEC: 2/27/2014 - 81
