Yeah, I feel about as nervous as I did for FAR. There's a lot of material and everyone says the SIMs are insane.

On top of that, I went through the ethics and part of the business law sections in Becker again today. I forgot a lot.

hi guys 🙂 taking REG this Saturday….my mind is about to explode (familiar feeling, isn't it?:-) . I want to make sure I got it right- since I am taking the test after 07/31/14, then new rules apply (i.e. no educator expenses and no tuition deduction “above the line” ). I specifically want to confirm the tuition and fees deduction above AGI. I know it's been posted on this blog, but can't seem to find the page. Thank you !

Yeah I'm getting more and more nervous…test is on Friday and I still feel like I don't totally understand Basis…which is uh, kinda important.

    BLAH.

    FAR - 81
    REG - 74, 87
    AUD - 88
    BEC - 88

    Finally.

Took REG this afternoon. This was an exam that you really had to work and think through. As usual, I have no clue what my score will be. Also, as usual, I can't believe that out of a 900 page book they pick about 3% of the information to actually test you on. MCQ's- around 8 that I had never seen or were totally obscure. Another 8 that I'm not sure of but could make an educated guess. SIMS- 1 WTF, research doable, the other 4 were tough but not impossible. I really had to struggle through them….to top it all off I hit quit exam instead of continue after the SIMS, so now I'm stressed about the exam saving correctly.

@adam8199- Congratulations on taking ! And thank you for sharing 🙂 I believe “quitting” doesn't loose your test, so you should be good 🙂 Good as in “you are DONE!” 🙂

Yeah, you're fine. I've seen a couple of posts on here about people hitting “quit exam” after the SIMs and everything went through.

Oh man I thought all 2014 changes were minor I didn't know they were messing with above/below the line stuff! Anybody have a quick reference to 2014 changes?

For Corps, is there any difference between a nonliquidating property distribution and a regular property dividend? Does the Corporation always recognize gain during a nonliqudiating distribution?

@wjun15 Someone correct me if I'm wrong please, but I believe that a nonliquidating property distribution is treated the same as if the corporation sold the property. The corp would recognize a gain for any excess of FMV over NBV

when they say you can deduct $5K of start up costs AND $5K of organizational costs, are they saying you can only deduct 5K between the two? or is it total of 10K? i ask, because the becker questions always seem to use 5K. I have never seen a question where they would utilize over 5K…

it's only $5000, the rest is over 180 months (5 years)

Does anyone else think Becker does an absolutely miserable job of explaining the capital gains netting process?

How concerned should I be with BLaw topics? Some of the in-depth Becker questions in R6 and R7 are not going well for me and my test is a few days away.

Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of how they explained that.

Just took the first practice exam and did OK. 18/24, 20/24, and 19/24 for about 79% on the MCQs. Something like a 76% on the SIMs, so about 78% combined. I'll take it. Lots of little things everywhere that I missed that I'll hopefully remember better on exam day.
